Plasma is the way to go for people in the industry, you can tell the difference. I have the 42″ (SMALL PLACE :-)) version of this https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-VIERA-TC-P50G10-50-Inch-Plasma/dp/B001UAEWUS
and LOVE it.

Get a plasma!, better contrast ratio, no refresh issues, 1080P look s great. I have a Panasonic that is THX cert. and the color reproduction is fantastic (not like film) but better than any LCD/LED I have seen. The only monitor I have seen better is my friends Kuro (also a plasma) which I am serious jealous of. But he said Panasonic last year hired most of the old Kuro design team when Pioneer stopped making plasmas.

Hi Amos,
MediaSilo can manage and organize your B-Roll through tagging and search terms. The benefits are that any of your producers or clients basically from anywhere can look for content (any computer or mobile device) and comment on it or rate it. But MediaSilo by itself is a Proxy based workflow, so online you get a flash or h.264 version, which you can download (with permission), but may not be the full resolution copy you want.
If there is Final Cut Server integration we have a product called “Edit request” where you can look at the proxy, mark an in and out point of the content you want, then choose the codec you want delivered, from there MediaSilo contacts Final Cut Server, your request is processed in Compressor and delivered to the user making the request. This may work for your needs.
Please feel free to contact me at any time of you have questions about MediaSilo and ways we can help you make your B-Roll library accessible and useable by everyone.
Best,

July 8, 2010 at 7:19 pm in reply to: What is the most compatible video codec for web presentation?Mediasilo does sever side encoding, you can send them any reasonable size file (up to 2 GB) in most major codecs that are not proprietary like prorez & DNXHD, they convert to flash for the web and an h.264 version for iphone automatically and they host and provide you the locations or embedded code to use. Also there is lots of other things they offer a post house like client collaboration, all at a reasonable cost. They have a free demo to try out.

I am not too sure about Smoke on Mac. It works with Avid, FCP, and lightworks opensource (check out the free demo on their site lightworks is impressive). You should contact them and ask if they have done a bench test or if they will do one for you. You should also confirm with Facilis or any other options how it works with SFM if that is your need.

Hi Alex,
Have no fear 10GbE can handle multiple uncompressed HD streams no problem look futher into it and do not believe all the fiber hype

Hi Alex,
Also check out Editshare, they do media sharing and project sharing for FCP an Avid and many other cool multi-platform suport perks. Their user interface is pretty simple and easy to use as well. They have a ethernet based architecture (1&10 GBit) and are a cost effective solution if you do not already have lots of fiber already in place. I have seen first hand that their customer support is top notch.
It is worth a look before you invest your hard earned cash, the ROI is pretty self evident.
