Microsoft Windows doesn’t nativly support Apple’s ProRes. If you are using Adobe, it’s bridge software will show you the thumnails of the footage in the file and allow you to organize the footage.

1080p30 is the fastest RAW recording for an SD card. All the info is on their website.

I just saw this deal and remembered this thread:
https://juicebox.direct/product/ursa-power/
I’ve heard good things about Juicebox batteries and this is a great deal on a whole battery solution for the URSA cameras.

You should get the GH5, Zyvik. 🙂

I would just get the Blackmagic made v-mount battery plate, it about the cheapest one out there (some are double the cost!) and or course will fit.

January 4, 2017 at 2:13 pm in reply to: Blackmagic URSA Mini and Frame Rate Options Up to 240fpsRegardless of the recording situation, internal or external, the camera portion of the URSA mini does not capture frames faster than 120fps. I would not expect that the change in any software updates either.
Depending on the subject of the footage, you may be able to get away with a stretching the URSA mini’s 120fps in post with one of the better time stretching plugins.
If 240fps isn’t to much of your productions, I suggest renting a higher speed camera system as needed. If it is a greater need to have that feature, I would suggest the Sony FS5 or FS7 and the Odessey recorder instead of a Blackmagic camera. Those Sony’s are similarly priced (all kitted out) to the URSA MINI, have similar quality and with the external recorder, can record raw and high speed, plus all your high speed and normal footage with match as they cam from the same camera.

You need to make sure the battery plate is for the URSA camera’s and has the proper molex connector. Blackmagic’s URSA cameras use power input different than other camera companies, so USRA specific plate is needed. I would simply revisit the vendor your camera from and get the proper plate from them.
As for v-mount vs gold mount (also called 3-stud and Anton Bauer mount), there is no difference. If you already are invested in one or the other, then there is a difference. V-Mount seems to have slightly more third party support.

December 4, 2016 at 5:27 am in reply to: 12 stops of dynamic range on an 8 bit field monitorShort answer: yes. Most field monitors are 8bit.
Long answer: yes, but the dynamic range won’t be as discernible. You really can’t tell as the monitor is based off Rec 709 color space and 12 stops of dynamic range would need a HDR monitor (like the new Atomos Shogun Inferno) to really see the whole range.I could be off on my long answer, but you aren’t going to miss anything with the monitor you have.
Maybe this will help you too:

December 1, 2016 at 3:34 pm in reply to: URSA MINI 4.6K 4:1 RAW 60p AND 30p Record Time QuestionAt full res 4608×2592 resolution, a 256GB card at 4:1 RAW in 30p is about 25min and 60p is 12min.
I recommend this app for for doing “video math,” it is super handy to figure out these things!

November 29, 2016 at 5:22 pm in reply to: Blackmagic Production Camera for Video Conference/webinar1. I would expect that if you are using lights and there is ambient room light, you will get an image you will be happy with without having to open up your iris more than you’d like.
2. I find what gets hottest is the SSD drive when recording, since you are using this as just a camera you won’t have that heat source. Even recording to SSD while using the SDI output, heat won’t be an issue. Make sure to not cover up the fan port on the bottom, it is close to where you would screw in your tripod plate.
The biggest issue I would think is that the video from the camera-live from the SDI or recorded to the drive in ProRes or Avid is rather unsaturated. Even shooting in its Rec. 709 based video mode, I added a lot of saturation when color correcting my footage. It has a “film mode” when shooting video that even flatter and less contrasty, like a LOG mode. If you can adjust the color of the camera in your streaming set up you’ll be fine, if not, you may not like the look.
