A BBG will let you sleep better. One of the BBG’s from Rycote or Schoeps should fit nicely, not cheap but they do work.

Regardless of all the connection permutations you’ve tried, you’e answered your own question. You said that you get clean sound from your Ipod & Blackberry and I bet from any other source also.
You’ve got connection and or grounding problems somewhere in your computer chain, maybe just a bad computer audio circuit. If you plug headphones in your computer HP jack is the problem still there?

You might want to consider getting an external battery power supply to extend your H4N battery life. Barring that option, you need to figure out how long the H4N will run with 48v phantom and then do the math.

529 is not 745 is. It’s not like the FCC is going to come looking for you because you’re on 745 but there are other legal users on there that are more powerful that could cause you issues. Actually that could happen on any frequency. Use them both and don’t sweat it.

What block or frequency are your G2’s? Any frequency above 700mHz is illegal but that doesn’t mean it won’t work. You could have just experienced an anomolie but the G2’s have been known to not work at short distances for some unknown reason.

September 1, 2011 at 6:35 pm in reply to: Best speakers for the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium cardAssuming you’re talking about active/powered speakers, there are not many that can accept a S/pdif feed. An analog feed is fine. As for choices, there are more choices than Heinz has pickles. Look at JBL, Genelec, Tannoy, Mackie, KRK, M-Audio. Your local Guitar Center or Sam Ash music shop is a good place to start.

August 30, 2011 at 1:14 pm in reply to: looking for good omni, lavaier mics for Lectro wirelessThe Vendor was wrong. Here’s the wiring for the SMQV transmitter for any lav. The only difference is that the SMQV requires a bit more connections than the standard Lectro tx.
Audio input jack wiring:
PIN 1 – Shield (ground) for positive biased electret lavaliere microphones. Shield (ground) for dynamic microphones and line level inputs.
PIN 2 – Bias voltage source for positive biased electret lavaliere microphones.
PIN 3 – Low impedance microphone level input for dynamic microphones. Also accepts hand-held electret microphones provided the microphone has its own built-in battery.
PIN 4 – Bias voltage selector for Pin 3. Pin 3 voltage (0, 2 or 4 volts) depends on Pin 4 connection.
– Pin 4 tied to Pin 1: 0 V
– Pin 4 Open: 2 V
– Pin 4 to Pin 2: 4 V
PIN 5 – High impedance, line level input for tape decks, mixer outputs, musical instruments, etc.Eric

August 30, 2011 at 1:39 am in reply to: looking for good omni, lavaier mics for Lectro wirelessAre you sure the Sony lavs can’t be made to work with the SMQV transmitters? If you haven’t then call Lectro tech support and ask them.

August 29, 2011 at 9:50 pm in reply to: looking for good omni, lavaier mics for Lectro wirelessActually the Countryman EMW is built like a Tram as the Tram was the first quality mini lav. That said the EMW (IMO)is a better sounding lav and has greater options available and I think is less $$$ than a Tram.
