IF there’s a buzz most likely it will be a 60hz buzz that can be filtered out in post. If there’s a buzz it will be heard throughout the system & over the speakers and will annoy all in the room. The odds are in your favor that there won’t be any buzz.

Call the venue and speak to someone who would know if you can get a feed from the house mixer into your camcorder. That would be the easiest way of insuring you get all the audio.

Here’s a simple 20db pad diagram:
XLR-M pin 1……………………….XLR-F pin 1
XLR-M pin 2….(470 ohm resistor)……XLR-F pin 2
XLR-M pin 3….(470 ohm resistor)……XLR-F pin 3
A 100 ohm resistor between pins 2 & 3 will give you 20db of attenuation. For more attenuation lower the value of the 100 ohm resistor, a 50 ohm should be about right.

I had to go check what the Azden mic was because it sure sounds like a stereo mic especially on the first voice. There is no center audio image only lots of Left & Right. The other voices have the same L/R issue but are not as strong as the 1st.
I don’t know if the mic was on a boom pole or camera mounted, either way it was too far from the sound source. Good luck in post, you have your work cut out for you.

The DPA 4060 is fast becoming the favored lav mic in the pro community. Combine that with Audio Ltd 2040 wireless and you’ll think you’re in audio heaven.

The Video Mic Pro will do the job for you just fine. Most DSLR shooters that I know use them for weddings, etc.

Well here goes your budget. You have 6 groups of 6 people all wired. You’ll need a professional soundmixer for each group who should have at least a 6 input mixer, at least 7 sets of wireless and wireless feeds to the groups cameras. Figure that will cost you about $800 a day per group so $4800 per day just for sound should cover your needs.

What you need is a 40db pad. It’s available as an inline plug in. The ATT448 from Markertek.com is a 3 step unit with attenuation at 20/30/40db for $15.59. You can’t build one that durable for that price.

You have it exactly right. Plural Eyes works by matching the two audio wave forms, one from the camera audio and one from the out board recorder. In the case of cameras that dont have built in microphones you would have to feed them audio by either a hard wire feed from a mixer or a wireless feed. I don’t know enough about Plural Eyes to comment on the other aspects of the program regarding manual syncing requirements.
