[Eric Santiago] “Hope this fixes my issue with FULL DEBAYER playback in FCPX.”

    Nope it didnt help.

I still cant get FULL DEBAYER playback with FCPX 10.0.9/OS 10.7.5 to 10.8.4 and RED ROCKET.

I can get a few seconds then it just drops frames.

    Works well at HALF.

tested the ROCKET in a Mac Pro PCI slot.
    full debayer all good.
it could be the CUBIX causing the slow down or maybe OS versions.
they both have the same FCPX/RCXPro/firmware.
even when using the DeckLink to the Flanders bypassing the BOB ROCKET, we get the poor playback using full debayer from FCPX.

    Thanks Oliver for replying 🙂

The stutter is at FCPX playback using FULL DEBAYER.

The video playback is basically bunk at this point.

At HALF it does great but kinda defeats the purpose of having the ROCKET.

I hope its not the CUBIX setup thats causing this.

I will have a test run with a ROCKET housed in a Mac Pro very soon.

I can only get a feed to the FLANDERS from BMD EXTREME 3D via HD-SDI using RCXPro in the CUBIX set-up.

I will have to do more testing to get ths config working with FCPX.

We dont have any issues using a rMBP/MAGMA/ROCKET config with FCPX.

Thanks again Oliver and have a great workflow 🙂

Oliver have any updates on this project?

Got a question and wondering if you have the same set-up as I do.

Currently installed FCXP 10.0.8 in same Avid Symphony Mac Pro/Resolve/RCXPro workstation.

For some weird reason, playback at FULL DEBAYER is stuttering in FCPX.

We can do it fine at HALF in FCPX but not full.

Now we see the stutter in the editing displays which are Dual Apple 30s running off a ATI 5870. The beefy part is two QUADRO 4000s and ROCKET housed in a CUBIX XPANDER.

I havent had time to try and feed the R3D via FCPX into BMD SDI > Flanders.

Are you using the ROCKET with FCPX at all?

    As heated as REDUSER?

April 11, 2013 at 10:47 am in reply to: Apple is at NAB!!!

I took in most of the courses at NAB and found a few things that irked me.
Even though the speakers and trainers were great people, I found Adobe’s marketing machine a bit too heavy during the courses.
What was laid out as informative course in some specific fashion turned out to be a demo of mostly their new software that students in the class found interesting but felt (after talking to most of them) that sitting there watching them show it off turned into a small room demo.
All the Adobe classes were full but just as much as the popular FCPX ones with the likes of Mr. Greenberg, Adam and Steve, etc..
The only sad site was a few of the Avid classes seemed dead and listless.
The information given was good and helpful but my feeling was that MC at its present state is dying interest with the new users.
I got to see the new version of everything and enjoyed learning about them.
My favourite has to be Resolve but Im biased since I love using that app.
    Back to Apple.
They were everywhere as far as their desktop offerings and almost 95% of the students were holding some type of Apple product during classes.
Please this was my experience at this years NAB.
I took in a lot since I got here last Friday.
Slept on average of 3 hours and on site from 8am till 6pm.
As usual the SuperMeet was a blast 🙂

[Steve Connor] “You mean the BMD camera isn’t in the same league as one that costs at least 7 times the price?

Based on our BMD camera I’d also argue that the colour science is actually very good

    Steve Connor

Exactly as far as pricing goes.

Being a Scarlet owner I could sound biased but IMHO they are not the in the same boat as say the current EPIC.
If the frame rates were higher and the color science and data delivery (workflow and all) were close then maybe.

  • Had the pleasure of learning the basics at NAB this morning and got to test it out at another course in the afternoon.
Yes I find the EDL quite a bit annoying where you have to reload from the Reel section.
It crashed on a MacBook Pro and HP box a lot as well.
As a Resolve user I am quite impressed with SpeedGrade but the little things need to be addressed before I would use it in battle.
