John how are you finding your MBP on other apps?
Do you use it for After Effects, Resolve and hopefully and RED workflows?
Im toying with the idea of a slimmed down DIT station.
Currently lugging a 24″ Apple Cinema HD and mac mini on set.
But I had to remove the stand to fit in a Peli 1600.
I would like to get it all in a smaller form factor Peli 🙂

I see the Link option sadly Im still having issues with updating RMDs.
Avid doesnt seem to accept the updates in RCX.
I just noticed it doesnt like RED TRIM files.
Not sure if thats an 8.4 thing.

The only noise you will be dealing are external chassis e.g. Thunderbolt and RAID drives.
I have a 2012 Mac Pro right beside a 2013 trust me I can make the 2013 kit louder by just turning on all the externals.

I’ve tested Frame.io for a few weeks now on a current project.
Director and DoP love it.
Ive been using the FCPX plug-in and sending 720p to save on costs.
The collaboration and marking option is perfect for communicating.

After a few days current project/client has been smooth to deal with.

I think for now this would only work well with the end owner in this case the Director.

She liked the Dropbox option but found it cumbersome compared to Frame.io.

I dont want to break the bank and start using with other clients.

Only downside from FCPX is that I have to convert a 4K timeline to HD2 to avoid the high bandwidth cost.

Love the notes option.

Id keep an eye on that. Some things seemed fixed at times with updated OS but then after a few reboots and projects everything bogs down again.

I’ve been lucky going back and forth from 10.2.1 to 10.1.4 with just my Libraries.
Mind you Im not going deep with any new functions e.g. 3D Title, etc…
