As we discussed later that day, I wasn’t trying to do 4k DPX at every client station. We’d like to have the ability to do compressed 4k workflows (such as RED) at each client station, and then finish on a 4k Linux Resolve. I would like this finishing station to have to ability *locally* to do 4k DPX. how much we’ll be working in DPX, i’m not sure.
most likely, the client stations will stick to 1080 offline workflows and we’ll do a 4k online in the Resolve suite.

so based on the subject line, there are drivers for this card in 10.8.3? do you have a link to a list of GFX and GPU drivers that are included in 10.8.3?
if so, this looks like a great replacement without jumping to the Quadro 4000

btw, we just rented an F55 for the week, and we can’t turn on the raw recording. all the options are ghosted out. we have the AXS-R5 raw recorder and cards. any ideas?

how about using the Sony software to create the DPX files, then play the DPX files back in Resolve? you’ll need 250-300MB/s to play them back in realtime for HD-size DPX files. but if you’re just looking at individual frame quality, that’s probably fine.

Avid finally released a new version of EuControl. i’ve only tested on my work system, which is pretty similar to my home system, but the latency is still there. it’s not really latency though. it’s that the lift/gamma/gain controls are not very precise and jump around. they require a fast input to register anything in Resolve. i’ve gotten used to in in Resolve (it was perfect in Apple Color). but if i was purchasing again, i would go Element.
hoping to get the BMD Resolve board at work soon.

It’s based on the number of nodes. i typically only use 1-2 nodes per shot, and i’m able to get real-time playback on my home system (GTX570 2.5GB) and my work system (GTX580) at 24fps and 30fps. when i add more nodes, it definitely goes down. but for my “fast” grades from ProRes sources, it works great. it works even better if you turn the audio off.
look at the 600 series cards. similar or faster performance while using less power.

Avid just released an update to EuControl. i installed it and i still get the same sluggishness. It’s like that on both my home system and my work system.

Nevermind. I moved the edit to a Mac Pro with a Kona 3, which adds the correct pulldown on the 23.98 shots on the HD-SDI output.
