do you always keep your pen in your hand, even when you have your hands on a control surface? or do you put down and pick up the pen every time you need a mouse? i’m not really that familiar with tablets, but i’m curious. i haven’t learned all the shortcuts on my MC Color (or assigned many), so i still mouse around a lot

i know how you feel jPo, and i feel the same way. just not about this particular problem (HDMI output for BMD card).
btw, if your ATTO card is SAS, you can get something like this:

and enable eSATA passthrough in ATTO Config. it won’t work for port multiplied enclosures though.

I do have an extra HDLink Pro, so I’ll give that a shot. We use the HDMI output to feed a 7.1 Receiver, which is feeding a projector. Hopefully the HDLink can pass the 5.1 HDMI audio we use for certain demo reels. i don’t think this receiver has a 6 channel RCA input (even though my 13 year old Sony receiver at home does)
i was thinking about just getting a spare Mac Pro door off eBay, and drilling a hole in that.
hey jPo, i wouldn’t blame Apple. if there was another slot in the Mac Pro, you better believe I would be using it for another card. It would be nice if BMD used mini-HDMI connectors like AJA.

Thanks Juan. That’s a good idea.
But since all my cards are full height – GT120, GTX580, Red Rocket, Decklink – I’m not sure I’d be able to cut any of them.

but
I think the Sony RAW feature only works for the F65 at the moment. could be wrong. I had a F55 here last week, but we never got the raw recorder to work and Sony needed the unit back.

I’ll be there. LOTs of meetings scheduled! Can’t wait to see old friends and meet new ones. I’ll be at the Colorist’s mixer on Sunday, Supermeet, Media Motion Ball, etc. Asking way too many questions. Annoying product managers…

If you’re on a Mac, you could use Name Mangler to insert characters into file names after they’re all exported. I use it all the time for bulk re-naming. not sure how long it will take on a stack of DPX files. depends on how fast your storage is.

as far as i know, you can’t use a period because it will think .0000 is an extension.
a dash is probably your best best.

the cheapest answer RIGHT NOW, is to swap that ATI card for a 570, 580 or 6xx card. switch the Q4000 to GUI duty.

based on your config, you probably have your Rocket in a 4x slot. moving it to the 16x slot will help. but you have a Q4000 in your 16x slot. yup, you’ll probably need a Cubix. if you go that route, get cheaper GeForce 5xx or 6xx cards. the Quadros aren’t faster in this case.
what are you delivering? DPX? ProRes4444? are you using Resolve or just Redcine-X? Sasha’s suggestion of 2 Rockets is only necessary for Real Time speed. if i had a Cubix, i would be torn between 2 rockets or more GPU cards. i would probably go with a single rocket and more GPUs
