So I want the source filename MyWonderfulVFXplate_SH001.mov rendering to

    MyWonderfulVFXplate_SH001.0000.dpx but no..

    ends up as MyWonderfulVFXplate_SH0010000.dpx fail

Use custom name Prefix /%L doesn add filename :-/

If I want to add a simple . before the seq numbers I have to turn source name off..

    Any suggestions?

as far as i know, you can’t use a period because it will think .0000 is an extension.

a dash is probably your best best.

Yeah suppose though nuke handles these fine.

So.. How to have %L- actually work ? Because use filename doesn’t allow custom prefix/suffix :-/

[Eric Hansen] “a dash is probably your best best.”

Probably legal. Linux/Unix convention, for your consideration, is usually an underscore ( _ ).

Either way.. adding a . or – or _ to after filename doesnt seem possible.

If you’re on a Mac, you could use Name Mangler to insert characters into file names after they’re all exported. I use it all the time for bulk re-naming. not sure how long it will take on a stack of DPX files. depends on how fast your storage is.

I used ‘automater’ to batch rename files in finder. Pretty easy and already in your OS (assuming you’re on a mac)
