You appear to be doing it wrong. You should open the veg file with Vegas 14, not open a new project in 14 then import?

  • Looks like you’ve muted the clip. Go to its Switches and unmute it?

That’s interesting Jason as I still have Sony MS12 installed and I cannot find the thumbnails for that either!

The thumbnail folder is probably in your User AppData. Try a search for folder “Media Pool Thumbnails”. At least that’s where they are with Vegas Movie Studio. Might be different with Vegas Pro.

The text in the Deform FX box looks larger and bolder than what it should be. Could it be something to do with your windows settings or display size/text size?

Obviously Vegas doesn’t like your avi files. What codec were they made with? Suggest you supply the media info for one of them.

You state they worked on an older pc. Was that running a different, earlier version of Vegas?

  • DVDA should not need to recompress your vob files, provided they are compatible. This means they just get copied over to your blue ray disc but become m2ts files. Then when the disc is played on a Blu-ray player it will upscale the video to 1080 just as it would if it was playing a DVD. At least that is my experience.

However it is important that the vob files correctly report their PAR and interlace status as this info is used when players upscale the video.

You’re likely to strike the same problem with other editors. It’s the sharpening that probably causes the issue. Some video editors put dotted white lines along the top left edge. You can even see them on TV broadcasts if your TV gives you the option of seeing the full image without cropping (overscan).

What I’ve done in similar situations is place a very narrow black strip on a track above the others to cover up the flickering edge. It only needs to be a couple of pixels high. Okay it reduces the visible image slightly but who will notice and it’s better than the flicker.

Diego, the different framerates are possibly because your phone, like the iPhone, uses a variable framerate. Video editors don’t generally like variable framerates.

However I’ve used variable framerate iPhone shots in MS Platinum 12 without problems. But I rendered them to another file using the XDCAM EX HQ template and Disabled Resampling in the clip’s Switches. This enabled me to obtain smoother preview and also check the mov files were rendered okay.
