If the video came off a DVD then hopefully it is DVD compliant and DVDA should use it without recompression. So I’d use DVDA. You can tell it to use the audio file(s) from your cd capture instead of the vob file audio. This will then give you a DVD. You can use the vob files from this to play on your pc. The only problem is if the files are large they will get split into 1gb segments.

    Sony avc uses H264.

Post a link to one of your YouTube videos so we can have a look at your quality problem.

720 x .9091 = 654.552 so to get the exact image aspect you need 655 x 480 with a PAR of 1.00. But that’s an odd size so you may have to settle for 640. The problem is that SD 4:3 and 16:9 both in PAL and NTSC were slightly wider than they should have been to give the correct aspect.

As for field order best to use progressive for mp4 as my experience is some TVs and players don’t like interlaced mp4s.

  • Like Paul I cannot hear any distortion or crackling.

As for being obvious you mentioned that the combined tracks were going into the red. That’s were I got it from. You need to adjust your final mix output level with the Master Bus.

  • I cannot hear any crackling but then the music level is much to loud making it difficult to hear the speech. At least for my ears. I would drop the music level.

Anyway you’ve answered the problem with your comments. Whilst the individual tracks may not be high enough to clip obviously when played together the resulting level is too high. I would have thought that was obvious.

A media player just playing a file and a video editor digging into a file to play in preview fulfilling editing instructions are two different things.

Possibly your file recovery has resulted in a file that isn’t completely clean and the corruption is causing Vegas problems. Try converting the file, outside of Vegas, to see if it can be repaired. I’d start with Handbrake but others may have additional and better suggestions.

Presumably with PPro you are animating the clip (event) volume and not the track volume. From the comments it appears Vegas Pro doesn’t have Event volume animation. I use Vegas Movie Studio so cannot check but VMS doesn’t have this nor any means of animating audio FX.

  • Vince, the problem is your players and TVs are probably showing different levels. So you are not comparing Apples with Apples. In my experience most TVs show the limited or Studio RGB range but of course if you play around with Brightness, Contrast, Backlight etc the results will be different.

With your pc check your graphic properties. Is it set to show videos with Full or Limited (Studio) RGB range. Is it set to allow players to use their own settings or not (although I’ve found players can sometimes override this). Check whether your players give an option to set the full 0-255 or limited 16-235 range. Only when you have all your equipment showing the same range can you do a comparison.

You can do it in DVDA.

Go to each of your Links that open the menu page and in their properties under Action select your required Destination button.

Yes I agree Graham. If you have more than a few to do it would be tedious. So Ben will need to master NB Titler Pro if that can do it.

It’s a pity Vegas doesn’t include a preset fot “Typewriter Text”. I’ve come across other less known consumer editors that have it. Searching on the net it appears that a few yars ago even Windows Movie Maker had it!
