  • CC Kaleida — nope, not seeing it. (but, many settings so who knows?)

What is characteristic about the particular effect I’m referencing is the recognizability of the image: CC Kaleida is too much a kaleidoscope in that most settings severely erode any recognizability of the source image, although the look is very cool, it’s mostly abstract.

Thanks for the response!: got anything else???

I always told my students, “When AE starts acting wonky, it’s time to Save and re-launch.”

Somewhere along the way AE can lose the plot. It’s weird, because it mostly keeps on working. But once weirdness sets in, it’s just a matter of time ’til it crashes.

using Paint, make a (pre)Comp that has the erasing effect you want, using black on white or the inverse.

Then, use that comp as a track mask.

September 2, 2012 at 7:03 pm in reply to: Pasting multiple keys, from the END key

That is a very interesting technique, thank you for bringing it to my attention.

It’s not quite what I need, which admittedly is just a very minor time saving in that I wouldn’t have to slide the newly pasted keys to the desired time.

My request (which doesn’t appear to be possible with some sort of modifier) was targeted at when you have a set of keys in which the final keyframe is the critical point, rather than the initial key in the copied set. I’d hoped that perhaps some key combo was already extant that implemented that form of pasting. Ah well.

    Thanks everybody for their input.

August 17, 2012 at 6:05 pm in reply to: AE7p: footage thumbnail background color?

That kinda blows, when you want to see the thumbnail in the Project window.

Thanks for the verification: did they fix this in later versions of AE, or is it a feature request.

An all-black thumbnail is really not much help to the user.

Dang: works on one layer, fails on nearly identical.

    So, using the AE expression:
    loopOut(type=”continue”);

On two nearly identical channels, it works fine on one, and fails on the other, using the SAME cut&paste text.

I’m very puzzled by this: maybe ‘cuz it’s a negative value????

No worries, but I’m sure that’s helped some of the newer readers.

    Thanks!
