    Thank you Shane!

  • The full version of Color Finesse comes packaged with AE Pro 6.5 which I purchased in 2004. I made my way through two of the Trish Meyer books, so I have a pretty good basic understanding of working with the program. I found that using Motion and FCP was better for me and the learning curve for Motion is not quite as steep as AE. I don’t use AE any more, but the Color Finesse plugin would certainly be a benefit to use without having to buy the FCP version, hence my question. When I say I’m not a pro, I mean I don’t do work for hire, I work primarily on my own projects for small, limited distribution. Even though I’m not a pro, I like my output to be as high quality as possible.

    Thanks for your help!

Since I start my projects in Motion 2, I selected the DVCproHD 720 24p setup. I edited the preset to 960 x 540, square pixel, 24fps. I will create all my graphics and crop my photos to this size. Will this work in FCP? What would be the difference in using this setting or using the large multimedia or presentation setting? And thanks for your quick response.

Would Live Stage Pro be better for what I need than AE? I’ve read the product description but it’s a little difficult to figure out what the program actually does. I would like to be sure before I shell out that kind of cash.

I have two Firewire 7200rpm hard drives for storage so the large files should be no problem. These Quicktime movies are not for professional distribution but I would like to preserve high quality for computer display wether from the CD version or the Web version. I don’t have the funds to invest in an Avid system.

With just a little knowledge of Motion you can create your own templates, probably faster than you can pay for them and download them off the web, it is really fast. If there really was a demand for Motion templates I’m sure there would be plenty of them available. I’m a beginner with Motion 2 but having had a little experience with After Effects, Motion is a breeze in comparision, but it still has a learning curve. Scott Simmons has an excellent Internet course on Motion 1 on VTC. You can watch it online for $30. It’s a 12 hour course that goes quite deep into the program. Motion isn’t a consumer type application like Garageband, iDVD or iPhoto and Apple advertizes it as a Pro App (meaning there is a learning curve). If you plan to do professional quality work you will find the time to learn the program instead of relying on quick solutions like templates. And by the way, the upgrade to Motion 2 is $99 not $300 and worth it in my opinion.

  • I was reading one of the tutorials and discovered I have to control click the Library window to load the libraries. Thanks anyway!
