Also, I’ve just realised this expression doesn’t work when you move the light past the object, only when you move the layer past the light. It’s probably a big ask but does anyone have a solution for this as well?!

Hello,

I was wondering if this expression works when applied to a nested comp. Should the layers within the comp respond to the expression? I’ve tried applying it and it doesn’t seem to have any effect.

Thanks ted, that works for multiple instances, but only ones that move in the same direction, I was hoping to pre-comp it so I could flip it and have the two spirals moving in opposite directions. Any idea how I could do that without having to draw another path?

Thanks for that, I have just found that there was a layer style applied to the base layer in photoshop before I imported it which seems to have been blocking the matte somehow, when I deactivated the layer style in after effects the matte worked fine. Thanks for your help though,
