It’s a fun clip, very unexpected ending. Did you make the particle shapes for the smoke on your own? I don’t remember an emitter like that.

You can find them in the October 2005 library, there’s quite a few music note emitters there.
Be sure to check out the new emitter catalogue on the wondertouch site. It includes the names of the emitters and a thumbnail, so it’s much easier to find things.

You can post it on Youtube or Google video and then post a link here. Easiest way to get video on the web these days if you don’t have any web space.

It’s a pretty simple effect really, I just gave some blue particles negative Weight and a bit of Motion Randomness. The emitter itself is in the December 2005 library if you want to have a look at it settings to get an idea of how to recreate it.

There are two tutorials similar to this effect and one quick run-through of the transporter effect specifically that are available in the website located in my signature (disintegrating a logo, distintegrating a person, and Orbing). The orbing one is a bit brief, but you may pick up enough from it to get by. If you have any questions still once you check those out, feel free to ask.

What’s the exact name of the emitter? Spin and Spin Variation would have been my first suggestion, so it must be an emitter that has something done that’s different than the norm.

Do you mean so it looks like the particles are starting away from a point and moving back toward it? You can’t really reverse an effect within particleIllusion. The best way would be to render out the effect and then reverse it in your editing or compositing program.

Try running the Reset Default Settings command (should be one of the options in the pI3 group of the Start Menu). If that doesn’t help, you may have to email support.

What version of pI do you have installed? Those playback controls for background images were only added in version 3.01. You can grab the update from the wondertouch downloads page.

Once you select AVI as your file type to render to, and hit Ok on the Output Options page, a pop-up should appear asking you to choose a Compressor codec. Do you ever get to the window, or does pI crash before that point?
Can you render to image sequences, or are those causing you problems too?
