That’s an emitter whose animation mainly comes from the Over Life graphs, so increasing the Life in the Puffs particle type, and then reducing the number should get it to slow down.

If you render out of pI as a .tga sequence, your particles will have an alpha channel. If its not in the dropdown when you’re choosing a format to render to, you can just type .tga after your file name and it will allow you to save alphas in the Render Settings screen.
Check out the Frameserver portion of this tutorial as a way that has always worked for me to get clips from Vegas into pI with no hassles.

No, there’s no way to open il3s in SE, but all the recent libraries have been converted to iel files, so there’s no need for it. Some emitters aren’t available in the converted libraries, namely ones that use features only available in version 3.
3 has a lot over SE. Super Emitters, Forces, multiple layers, Get Color from Layer.

I meant what is the source of the video you are trying to load, did you capture it from a miniDV camera, is it something you edited together in an editing program?

What editing program is the video coming out of, and what compression are you using? I used to have this problem if I’d import a clip in from Vegas that didn’t have certain things checked, and many of those options are available in other editing programs. If you check out this link under Uncompressed AVI, you might get some ideas of what to try.

January 14, 2007 at 8:17 am in reply to: why some particles don’t work well with image alphasThe biggest factor that will affect this is the size of the particles. The bigger the particle, the more it will break the illusion, since particles born at the very edge pixel of an opaque part of the background image will be born hanging over the edge of your logo.
Motion Randomness too will affect it, especially if Frames to Preload is set to something high, since then the particles have already been born and are going off in all directions.

Alan might have some better insight into this than I do.

There’s definately no compatibility problem with pI and Windows Media Center, I just installed it on my new laptop a month ago.—

I have a GeForce 7300 with 256mb on my PC, and it works great with pI. Though it was about 3 years since my last video card upgrade, so it’s hard for me to say how a 6600 would compare to a 7300.
Could it just be a driver issue? Have you tried the latest certified drivers?
