I will look into other cleaning methods…though I have never done a manual cleaning before. As far as the whole goes, it was the upper right D shaped hole on the back.

Thanks for the quick response. I talked to someone at Sony (excellent customer support), and he actually made me punch out some tab on the back of the cleaning tape, and then it seemed to work. The hits that I am seeing is usually during the black between the stuff I lay down, just random digital noise. Haven’t had any audio problems as far as I know, and the hits are not occuring on the spots themselves…my theory is that one of the PAs who blacked the tapes didn’t push in the patch cable all of the way and there was a bad signal or maybe we have bad patch cable. I am going to have to investigate. Thanks again.

thanks Ben…That’s what I figured. The real pain to this all is that I reorganized those files so that it would make my life easier…and this is what I get. This is the last time that I take over someone elses project…at least one that isn’t backed up somewhere else.

Bummer. What about Avid’s codec? We were going to render the clips out in Animation for the AE guy, but he claims there is some RGB difference between Animation codec and DVCPRO HD.

Yeah…I know that trick, but sometimes I take over other people’s projects that are really messy…and so it is in these cases that it would really help me out for a short cut like the one I mentioned.

I want to clarify: My company has medea scsii raids too, but we bought the G-raid (and I cannot explain why exactly) so that we could capture on set with a laptop. Anyhow, I have been trying to run DVCPRO HD from the drive thru the FW800 and am getting tons of hiccups and freeze frames. The box claims that DVCPRO HD is no problem for the drive. I have also run the AJA disk speed tests on the drive and for DVCPROHD 720p60, I am getting write speeds of 43.9 mb/s and read speeds of 70.5 mb/s…I compared these to Walter’s speed tests in his review and they seem to be comparable, if not slightly better. So why am I having these issues? Any suggestions Walter?
