You didn’t happen to try to open the project in an earlier verion of FCP did you? Whenever you try to open an FCP5 project in FCP4.5 it will give you the corrupt file message. The only way you can do this successfully is with XML. I am pretty sure that this is not the case…but I figured I would throw it out there just in case.

Both Aja and Black Magic used to use the Black Magic codecs and drivers. Now Aja uses it’s own drivers and the Apple Uncompressed QT, except for HD where they use their own codecs. BM still uses their own codecs as far as I know.

It is a bit time consuming, but less so if you don’t start editing on the Avid and only use it for capture. No you cannot import the OMF files; you will have to export quicktimes. You can stripe the quicktimes and import Avid bins if you use sebsky tools…https://www.dharmafilm.com/sebskytools/

I appreciate the quick responses, but I know all of this already. A lot of times if I have like 15 promos and 15 slates, I like to just drag the whole bunch of them into the timeline and then move them to where they need to be…I don’t know why I like this. But I would like to then be able to move individual clips (once they are already in the timeline) to a different timecode using the numeric keypad. Any suggestions on how to do this? I is also more usefull for when I do a history tape of the entire project, in which I just copy the contents of a few differnt sequences and put them onto one sequence…then I move things around in whatever order I need them.

I think that spot was actually done for a competition…at least that is the word. Some reason I never win the editing awards at the Emmy’s or Acadamy Awards…not yet at least.

That is a real bummer. I know this doesn’t help right now, but in the future you can always have them telecine to HD and then make dubs from those to DV for offline editing. The Cow is a great place to get help, but if I were you I would call up the transfer house and talk to someone there about what the necessary steps are to see this thing through. I don’t know where you are located; I am in NYC and the guys over at Postworks are usually very helpful.

Yes you have to set your out point before the last frame of your clip or you will often get this white flash frame…don’t know why, but I get the same thing and this always fixes it. You could also trip the mpeg in DVDSP or whatever authoring program you use, but you have to trim to the next GOP and that only works out if you have enought tails to work with.

I have been having the same problem and when I uninstalled the drivers it went away too. Is the audio playing at different times depending on where you start playing from in the sequence? Nobody has seemed to be able to help me thus far. Keep us posted if you get a solution. I am using a Kona SD card, which uses the BMD drivers.
