July 15, 2007 at 1:38 am in reply to: compressor changes 720×480 to 640×480 in mpeg 2 w/embedded audio…sorry for the additional post (again)…
i took one of the compressor made mpeg2/lyr2-audio files into streamclip and it tells me that the file size is 720×480; even tho’ it says it’s 640×480 in QT.
am i insane or is there something in QT that automatically reads mpeg2 as 640?
again, thanks for the help.

July 14, 2007 at 11:51 pm in reply to: compressor changes 720×480 to 640×480 in mpeg 2 w/embedded audio…hi rick-
i started with the basic “DVD-Best-90minutes…” then i tweaked what settings i needed too, i.e. added “audio layer 2” changed the settings my client needs, “upper-field first” and that’s about it.
i got the audio, but the 720 is a mystery.
i also tried it in sorenson, but they don’t support mpeg2 muxed… so…
that’s where i stand.
thanks for your help.

that makes sense.
pardon my ignorance, but how do i reset the pixels so i get back to 720×480? i don’t see an option for that in compressor.
thank you,
eric

June 28, 2007 at 11:39 pm in reply to: frutration sensation: FCP not seeing ALA Io LA since Studio 2 upgradeno UC HD w/HDiO… bummer. i haven’t had a chance to look at the specs in detail as of yet. but not having UCHD lowers the drool factor just a little.
i’ll check with aja on the IoLA with the G5…
thanks everybody… glory to the cow.

June 28, 2007 at 8:46 pm in reply to: frutration sensation: FCP not seeing ALA Io LA since Studio 2 upgradei have a psuedo-related question on this topic…
will this problem go away if one were to own the HD I/o?
it is my understanding the HD Io is all things HD/SD – digital/analog, so in theory that is correct isn’t it?

thank you for the quick replies… my sanity is grateful.
i have the latest KONA drivers, but that doesn’t get me my A/D audio… unless i’m missing something… which is entirely possible.
what i ended-up doing is just pulling my IoLA from my G5 and hooking it up to my 15″ powerbook and voila! it works like butter. i have an older version of FCP loaded on the powerbook so it was happy. fortunately it’s a betacam to DV conversion so i’m not getting killed on throughput.
i guess from here on, non-SDI goes the powerbook route.
again thank you & glory to the cow!

good catch on the lastclip.txt file…
i’ll see what i can do; however, the media no longer exists on the firestore (it was shot a few weeks ago). i’ll search and see if there’s a similar workaround. i’ll post back to let you know how it goes.
thanks for getting back to me.
glory to the cow.
