yes, and i blew it out prior to loading motion 2. this seems to have happened after the update. i hadn’t had any projects requiring motion for awhile, then #*^%#$@@!!!!

so, i re-reinstalled motion 2 and it works better; however, it still crashes or is sluggish at best.

    life is so uncertain…

OK, i’ve done all of what was mentioned earlier in this thread, minus the second monitor deal and motion is still crashing. i do not have a decklink card so that’s not the deal, any ideas?

    thank you jerry and everybody,

after my last post i read that the LA’s RS-422 carries TC, etc. which i probably should’ve known. it’s amazing that all that info flies through the FW400. i’ve been running into severe braincramps with all this stuff. finally breaking down and posting questions has been a real life-saver.

thanks again to all for answering my newbie questions… i’m sure i’ll have a few more. especially since it looks like the company i’m working for bought a Z1. one step at a time…

    again, thank you.

thank you, thank you bob & shane!

being a recovering broadcast slave (trapped in 80’s tech & mindset) exploring the growing, changing world of media gets overwhelming. real world advice is huge in deciding how my budget is spent.

so it sounds like SATA is the way to go. G-Tech and ProMax look like they both have great options. so serial i will go… at least as far as my budget can handle. now, since my G5 has PCI-X slots, will PCI cards also work? i know PCIe is a whole other goofy story, but i’ll deal with that in another life.

now to the Io issue, the way i understand it, if i got the AJA io i wouldn’t need the KONA or Decklink correct? what about timecode? does it make it through as well?

thank you again for your help.
