I’ve been running Motion 2.0.1 and it keeps crashing on me. I checked some of the previous threads and posts and I seem to be getting the same crash report, but the difference is that I don’t have a Blackmagic or AJA link. Motion is stable and doesn’t crash when I disconnect the CRT Phillips 20″ TV that I have hooked up to the second port on the ATI Radeon 9650 (DVI->S Video adapter). I’m using a dual 2.7 with 2.5 Gb of RAM. I’m still just learning how to use Motion with the tutorials so I don’t think I’m pushing the program that hard. Motion will launch and I can open up a project with the 2nd display on for monitoring but the second I toggle to another application like Safari or Itunes it goes down and gives me this crash report:

    Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000000

Do I need more RAM or could it be the video card?

Any suggestions. (BTW I cleaned up Font Book and that didn’t seem to help at all)

    Thanks

Trash prefs and the like- and then try a reinstall and Software Update.

    life is so uncertain…

OK, i’ve done all of what was mentioned earlier in this thread, minus the second monitor deal and motion is still crashing. i do not have a decklink card so that’s not the deal, any ideas?

Did you have Motion 1 installed at any time?

yes, and i blew it out prior to loading motion 2. this seems to have happened after the update. i hadn’t had any projects requiring motion for awhile, then #*^%#$@@!!!!

so, i re-reinstalled motion 2 and it works better; however, it still crashes or is sluggish at best.
