February 13, 2013 at 11:16 pm in reply to: How to use Proanimator 6 Batch Render function?

    Hi William,

    Sorry about the confusion.

To use the Batch Rendering, go into the Batch Project Rendering panel. Then click the button towards the bottom where it has a plus sign with a file. This button allows you to add projects to the Batch Rendering list. For every project added, it will let you enter the output name to name the movie file that it renders.

After you finish adding the projects you want to render, click the “Render Projects” button to render all the animations.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.

    Best,
    Edward

  • Hi Holt,

Thanks for sending the project file. Please see my reply. Somehow, your project is not working correctly and the Specular Highlights are not working. Please use my attached project file and see if you are still experiencing the same issues.

  • Hi Holt,

One of the reasons why you may be seeing different results in the 3D Preview window as opposed to the Render Test is because you are working with shadows. Even though shadows do show up when using the OpenGL Renderer/3D Preview window, the shadow that is generated is more of a draft quality shadow rather than the final quality shadow that is generated when you click the Render Test button. Also, keep in mind that if you enable the “Ambient Occlusion” feature, this will darken corners and other areas where objects are close to one another. This means, while objects may appear bright with the OpenGL renderer, once the Ambient Occlusion is applied, certain appears may appear darker and cause the highlight to not show up, or be darker than it otherwise may be.

Hope this helps. If you’re still having problems, please send the project file to me at ed@zaxwerks.com. I do not need the media files. You can just send the raw After Effects project and I will be able to see your ProAnimator set up.

January 15, 2013 at 6:47 pm in reply to: ProAnimator 6.1

    Hi Kerri,

When you apply an image onto an object, by default the program applies the image proportionally onto the object. This means, if you apply a 200×100 image onto a 200×200 plane, the image will not map onto the plane perfectly. The image will still be proportional to how it looks originally and no horizontal or vertical stretching will be applied. However, with “UV (Proportional)” mapping, if the size of the image does not fit the size of the object, then part of the image will be cropped off.

If you want to change the mapping technique, first select the object. Then, go into the Material Docks panel. Select the material that is applied, and you will see additional controls towards the bottom. In the Mapping menu, you can switch from UV (proportional) to UV (fit), etc for different mapping techniques.

Below is a link that will go over how to get to the mapping controls.

January 2, 2013 at 7:26 pm in reply to: OpenGL crashes

    Hi Geoff,

If possible, try updating your video card driver. If your video card driver is not up to date, you may run into problems with OpenGL since ProAnimator utilizes OpenGL quite a bit.

In regards to your question about going in and out of ProAnimator, you can use the “Editor Background” feature. To do this, select the ProAnimator layer. Then, go into the Effects Controls panel. In the “Load Editor Background” menu, select the video layer you want to use, and you will be able to reference the video in the ProAnimator Set-Up window. Keep in mind that you can also select a Pre-Comp as well.

Also, I’m not seeing the crash for the Blue Wireframe. Is the program crashing when you are applying the material on an object?

December 18, 2012 at 7:32 pm in reply to: can I change aspect ration for proanimator 4.3.2?

    Hi Nelson,

You will have to change the Solid Settings so that it matches the Composition settings. Select the Solid that ProAnimator is applied to, then go into the Solid Settings menu and click the “Make Comp Size” button. This will set the pixel aspect ratio so that it matches the Comp settings. After setting up the Solid, you should no longer see any clipping issues.

December 10, 2012 at 7:52 pm in reply to: Pro Animator 6 documentation?

    Hi Doug,

We moved all of our training online. We do have a 400+ page documentation from ProAnimator version 4 that is very comprehensive and covers a lot of concepts that are still all being used in ProAnimator version 6. If you are interested in that documentation, please e-mail me at ed@zaxwerks.com and I will send you a link to that documentation. You can download that PDF file and access that at your work place.

As for the DVD training series Making It Look Great, the idea is the same as well. Even though the tutorials are a little dated and the controls look a little different due to the different interface, all the ideas carry over as well. So if you are interested in the training series, you can purchase them at Motionworks.com.au.

There are also a few video tutorials that are available in the ProAnimator 6 Online Documentation as well. Be sure to watch them for good tips on getting started with the program and how to set up an animation.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Nico,

If you are talking about duplicating an object in Invigorator PRO, then you will need to unlink the materials. To do this, select the duplicated object. Then, go to the “Object Style Swatches” panel. In the “Material Commands” menu, select “Unlink Object Style”. Then you will be able to apply a different material to the duplicated object.

    Best,
    Edward
