You could set MANY of them to a common location but not ALL. For example, peak files are always in the same folder as the source media – that can’t be changed.

Just go through File – Properties and Options – Preferences and change all file locations appropriately.

I have this procedure written up in vol 1 #8 of my newsletter (link below my name).

Basically, I just scan them at whatever size they are at 300dpi. Then I pan and zoom as needed using Pan/Crop.

  • 655×480 is correct when adjusting between square and non-square pixels. If you really, really, really, want the full 720×480 (even though the aspect will be wrong) then “copy to clipboard” instead and then paste into Photoshop.

Did you just install SP2 on them? If so, try rolling back to SP1 and see if that fixes it.

[frankie] “Is 90 dropped frames a lot? Is it normal? “

Yes. 90 is a log. “Normal” is ZERO.

April 6, 2005 at 6:26 pm in reply to: how to make digital pictures from digital video

    [Paul] “Is this possible? “
Yes. Just click on the “Save Snapshot” button. There are some things you can do to improve the quality such as changing the preview mode to best (full), changing the project to progressive, etc… To really simplify things, use a script. I have full details on one of my newsletters.

[Paul] “Would the resolution be worth it? “
Maybe – depends on what you’re trying to do. Standard NTSC DV will give you a 655×480 image at 72dpi.

[Paul] “Can I “fix” the digital stills with Photoshop? “
I don’t know. Can you? You can definitely load them into Photoshop and manipulate them however you desire.

  • I just added a clip to a new project, opened Track Motion, typed in 190 for the rotation, and it took. I then typed in 390 and it took, and 590 took, and 790 took, and 1090 took.

What else did you change in Track Motion?

Yes you can. Just get them the way you want them, right-click the track header, and choose “Set Default Track Properties…”
