You CAN do it with one click in Excalibur. Just set your defaults as I’ve stated and add the “Select Events” individual tool to the toolbar. One click and you’re done. You’ll never even see a screen appear – all you know is that the events are split and the specified items are selected (i.e. all right of cursor or all left of cursor)

Run the Select Events tool in Excalibur 4 or Tsunami 1. Choose either all events before the cursor or all events after the cursor (your choice will be selected upon completion). Then make sure the “Split at Cursor Location” is checked. All events will be split at the cursor location.

I tested using the “selection area” but it resulted in an error becuase the selection area had no length.

I guess I don’t understand the Pan/Crop question. I always get the “F” window. Can you post pictures as to what you’re seeing?

Yes, you can manually do PIPs but then Multi-Cam can’t undo those PIP’s automatically (depending on how you did them) and without running Sync you won’t get use of the Tally system. Therefore Sync MUST be run which will provide both the PIPs and the Tally system. However, Sync doesn’t have to “sync” – it can easily leave the clips alone by simply NOT placing the sync markers on the timeline. You DO need to number the tracks before running Sync just as if you were syncing in order for the Tally system and Multi-Cam to work properly.

Go ahead and sync manually if you wish. DO number the tracks appropriately (i.e. “1” for video and audio of camera 1 and “2” for both video and audio of camera 2). Now, simply do not put the sync markers on the timeline but go ahead and run the Sync Wizard. It will create the PIP’s for you and set you up for the Tally system but will NOT try to sync your events.

Steve, Vegas 6 also allows the use of a secondary monitor for this purpose.

Dominique, don’t know why it would freeze Vegas when turned off, though. I’ve seen it used a few times but never saw it freeze when turned off. I would probably first check to see that the video drivers were up-to-date.

Just for comparison, I had a 1 hour 50 minute video that I rendered to MPEG2 and AC3. I dropped both into DVDA on a simple menu and the size indicator in the lower right-hand corner said the video was too large. I prepared anyway and the resulting folder size is 4.08 Gig – plenty small to fit on a DVD. Even if it says it’s too larger, I would try preparing anyway if I *knew* it was small enough.

Remember that DVDA often over-estimates the final size of the DVD. You might want to go ahead and do the prepare and see what the final prepared size actually is. There’s a good chance it would be small enough.
