Scenalyzer Live might be able to do that. I know people have tested capturing two tapes at the same time. Capturing two live cameras shouldn’t be any different.

Depends on what you’re wanting to do! If you’re going back to MiniDV, then DV-AVI. If you’re going to DVD, then MPEG2. If you’re going to the web, probably WMV.

Use GSpot to figure out what codec is actually being used. Locate and install that codec. Or run it through Virtual Dub and have it convert it to something Vegas can read.

I think the “authoring” problem may have been eliminated in the most current version of Quicktime. I know it was a big problem with QT5. Just not sure about QT6 or QT7.

Do you have quicktime installed? When you installed it, did you choose “custom” and install everything (especially the “Authoring” components?)

I usually just render each project to a DV-AVI file and then create a final project from those DV-AVI files. I don’t worry about copying complicated projects to another project. A huge problem when copying between projects is any track level effects.

Absolutely. It’s what I call the “Stuttering Video” effect in Excalibur. You need to make sure that only the pieces that are moving are want you want it applied to, though. Helps to have the camera locked down so the background doesn’t move.

The basic technique (with 3 tracks for example)

Track 1: clip offset left 8 frames
Track 2: clip offset left 4 frames
Track 3: clip no-offset

Track 1: change opacity of the clip to about 33%
Track 2: change opacity of the clip to about 50%

See what that gives you.

The PROPER way is to go to Tools – Print Video to DV Tape. And, yes, it will render all sections that need to be rendered (note: it’s only the sections that NEED to be rendered) and render the audio to a W64 file.

If you don’t mind the sutters when it can’t keep up, simply playing back the timeline with external preview turned on will give you the video. If you run audio out from your sound card and into your recording device, you can get audio as well. However, it won’t be anywhere near as good as Tools – Print Video to DV Tape.

If you have a DV-AVI file and simply want that on tape, try using the printing fuction in the Capture program. Or you can put it on the Vegas timeline, choose Tools – Print Video to DV Tape, and all it will do is create the W64 file (as nothing will NEED to be rendered) which is a very quick process.
