I know that it doesn’t come as part of QT. That’s why I got her to install MPEG Streamclip.
I thought (seemingly erroneously) that because it includes an HDV option, that
she would be able to export to another codec in the export options.

My client just sent me this:

QuickTime version 7.2
dimensions are: 192×1080
codecs: HDV 1080i60, Integer (Big Indian), Timecode
Channel count: 1
They are all .mov files, and are referred to as QuickTime Movies.

And she said they were shot with a Sony, but doesn’t know which one.

FCP supports HDV 30P too. That’s what we shoot in with our JVC 110.

Gary’s right, to a point. The reason the V3HD was (and should) be discussed here in this forum is that it’s the closest thing (so far) to the IOHD. So it’s valid to compare the two, and even say the V3HD might be better than the IOHD if you think so, if for no other eason than to piss Bob off. 🙂 But, I agree, keep the “we’ve got them, buy from us” out of here.

FCP has a “simple way to open a fresh, empty project” too. As I said in my last post, deselect the “open last project” option in user preferences. When you open FCP next time, it’s a fresh, empty project. The other suggestions for templates would be a nice built-in FCP touch- do we have to do it ourselves??? 🙂

It’s pretty awesome. WMV isn’t going away anytime soon though (DRM for example). The Beta is available now, but the player isn’t till fall. It’s the same old “I better wait until enough people have updated their player.” But once that catches up…….
The only other thing that comes to mind is that I’ve gotten used to creating a Mac and PC version for most clients, which also allows me to tweak the gamma for each. A one-stop-shopping version will have to be a gamma compromise.

JVC invented the VHS format, not Magnavox. RCA then begged for a long-play version, which Mashushita gave them, so movies could fit.
Snopes.com and others debunk the “porn made the VHS format more popular” myth.

In User Preferences theres a setting in the General section called “Open last project on application launch”. Deselect that.
