March 6, 2015 at 9:18 pm in reply to: excluding one or more plugins from being scanned on startupnot a day ruiner? it’s something you do once, then it’s done! there is no magic one click solution. follow the steps outlined and it will work. or spend a while asking and waiting for slate tech support to fix it, which seems unlikely given that vegas will be very low on their list of things that matter! as for dropbox, how hard would it be to backup 2 folders instead of 1? just make the new folder, will take 5 minutes or so and you will be happy. March 6, 2015 at 5:53 pm in reply to: excluding one or more plugins from being scanned on startupyou don’t disrupt your plugins. you are simply moving the plugin to a new folder that vegas can’t see, then telling reaper where it is. try it. it’s easy. and you can undo. ed

March 6, 2015 at 12:26 pm in reply to: excluding one or more plugins from being scanned on startupsimple way; move slate or other offending vst plugins .ddl files (and any associated presets etc.) to a new folder (example; c:program files/ isolated vst plugins). make sure that vegas is scanning the “normal” vst plugins folder so you can continue to use vst plugins that DO work. then in reaper, go to preferences and add the new vst plugins folder to the existing and restart. this way, both programs can use all of your plugins safely.

January 22, 2014 at 4:03 pm in reply to: HitFilm2 Express for free for a limited timeit can do some nice lens flares and the particle stuff could be cool, but I don’t think there will be much call for that in the videos I make for clients! still, a very nice freebie so I don’t want to appear negative. if it did integrate as a plugin inside vegas it would be much more viable. having to keyframe in 2 separate applications is clunky. ed

January 21, 2014 at 10:11 pm in reply to: HitFilm2 Express for free for a limited timethanks Mike. downloaded and installed. be aware that you can install on one machine only. I installed on studio pc then put it on home laptop so I can play around with it, but can only run in demo mode unless I deauthorise other install. fair enough given it’s a freebie! do the same restrictions apply to ultimate version? also; I can get a clip into hitfilm from vegas, but is there a way of automatically getting it back into vegas on the timeline at same position? or do we simply have to render out and manually replace the clip? ed

reading the original question, I get the impression that the user has a bunch of video effects with a background that he wants to remove. so i’d expect that the files contain an alpha channel for that purpose. I may be wrong, only the topic starter can tell, by checking the files or rephrasing his question. ed

are they files with alpha channels? right click the clip, properties/media, look for alpha channel. select whichever option looks best, premultiplied etc.

August 7, 2013 at 3:14 pm in reply to: shame that velocity envelope doesn’t keep audio in sync!to be honest, it didn’t take me that long and the results are worth it. I just wish I had the audio guide. as Mr. Scott of the Enterprise would say “How else can I maintain my reputation as a miracle worker?” 🙂

August 5, 2013 at 2:59 pm in reply to: shame that velocity envelope doesn’t keep audio in sync!correct. I don’t want to speed up or change the playback rate of the STUDIO audio. the audio recorded in the studio is at the perfect tempo. I want to change the playback rate of the rate of the live video to match. in the final edit I was having to make micro adjustments, sometimes going down to 80% playback rate for part of a word, then maybe 105% at other times. very fiddly work, but us audio guys are used to dealing with very small time values to get the right feel. vegas does a nice job of controlling the video playback rate. it’s just that when you do it you can’t hear the location video sound following along. if you could, the job would be a lot quicker. and yes, it does make a difference, getting it right 😉
