I just got Level 1 certified last Nov and it was great. However, I would do some research on the Level 2 and 3 certification if I were you. I registered for Level 2 at the DV Expo and found out that Apple changed the curriculum. They split level 2 into 2 pieces. The new level 2 is on editing. Level 3 is on effects.

What is new this time is that Level 2 is no longer really about how to use Final Cut but more on the aesthetics of editing. I ended up getting a refund from the class after the first day because I only learned a few shortcuts all day long. My company does marketing, training, and educational videos. We don’t need to know how to edit a comedy scene or a fight scene. I was completely disappointed but my boss was happy that I didn’t waste his money. 🙂

If you do want to know basic editing techniques and aesthetics, then it would probably be worth it. Just know that you won’t really learn as much about FCP as in level 1. By the end of the day, I realized that I could have been sitting there with any nonlinear editing program and could have followed along just fine. Too bad.

We have multiple computers with both programs and have never had a problem.

In points won’t work because I have 2 clips to match one clip – they don’t all share an in- point.

But I did figure out a way, for those who have the same problem: I synced up the clips in the sequence and then changed the timecode on the larger clip. Once they had matching timecode, I could make a multiclip based on it.

I didn’t know you could change the timecode of a file (and switch it from drop to non-drop)! Once I found that out, it was easy.

yeah, thats how I used to do these kind of things. I was just hoping I could use the realtime multicam feature. oh well – maybe next time. If anyone else has ideas, I’d love to hear them!

I tried both suggestions and found them to work, but not all of the time. Any other ideas? Thanks.
