I applied a mask to the group containing the emitter and edge collision behavior. It isn’t exactly what I wanted, but close enough. Thanks for you responses.

    Mark..Thanks,

I tried that, but unless I’m missing something, I’m limited to a box. I’d like to have this work within an irregularly shaped object.

    Craig,

This doesn’t work for me. The connected clips are indeed abutting. When I try to apply the transition, it either applies itself to the end of the first connected clip or the start of the next connected clip. It will not span the two clips ( as in “centered on cut” in FCP 7!). …and if I may go further, let’s say I wanted to have a connected clip (as a PIP) twist in over the top of a main timeline clip without another clip in front of it. I can’t get this to work either. I tried it with other effects such as lighting transitions such as the”lens flare” or “light noise”..won’t work. Hope I’m just missing something…thanks for your help.

This happened to us yesterday also, after a power bump (need to get that UPS!) Anyway the poster frames in the bins and on the sequence say “media offline”, but the sequence plays ok. Reconnecting does not restore the poster frames. Most are subclips, but not all. Any suggestions please.
