I tried an HDMI solution too. One thing to keep in mind is the delay in HDMI processing. If you monitor your audio/video using outputs other than BMD there is a slight processing delay. It is enough that my clients thought there was a lip-sync issue. I eventually converted all back to HD-SDI.

I use a couple of methods..1st. flip4mac. However, there are occasions where I needed additional information in the WMV. I have had to export an uncompressed QT Mov. Take that to my windows box and export the WMV on that platform.

Pace is a company that manufactures an anti-piracy product that is used in conjunction with a USB key (ilok). See http://www.paceap.com for details. I had to use it for my ProTools DAW. Some of the plug-ins used this security method to authorize before I could use them.

  • In addition to comments prior. Also, look for repetitive patterns within a specified time gap. That would trigger the pass/fail measure. What was tested? Your DV tape, the Dbeta transfer or a file created from the Dbeta txfr?

If it was the Dbeta is the method of transfer to Dbeta from your DV tape a good transfer. Is that process introducing the image anomalies? i.e. From deck to deck how is the visual image being converted. That is Video out of the DV deck to video in on the DBeta deck. SDI, Firewire converter, analogue? An incorrect signal setup can introduce video levels that cause issues as well.

In any case you should be able to request the data from the harding software app log. It is time stamped and should tell you if it is Luminance based (like you stated) or spatial.

If you have After Effects CS3, I’d use Keylight. Sometimes my workflow is Motion with final composites in FCP so I have been using Boris Continuum Complete (FxPlug Version for FCP6). Keylight shipped with CS3. Boris is available for purchase as an FxPlug and works in both Motion and FCP6.

Depending upon your needs you could use the Animation or None CoDec’s. Both support embedded alpha.

I ran into this issue a week or so ago. After the QT update was posted. It is a known issue with Flip4Mac and they have posted a workaround. https://flip4mac.com/knowledge/kb_0070.htm

Initially this looks like a field domninace issue. What process are you using to encode the media?
