    Kevin:

I am sad to say, I agree. The very first time I used PP 2.0, I imported an mpeg file (PP 2.0 was a straight upgrade {production studio} from purchased version of 1.5 — no trial version involved) with the intention of quickly exporting it to .avi movie, then bringing that into project and dropping onto timeline. The mpeg file did not even show in the monitor window when I dropped it on the timeline and scrubbed. NO solution yet. I had to use my trusted Ulead Vid. Studio to do the conversion. This always worked fine with 1.5.

With Encore, I got all kinds of weird error messages when creating a menu and trying to preview the menu with the project I had going on. Not a pretty experience.

BTW, my install went deceivingly flawlessly, too.

I will let Adobe hear about this soon. Perhaps that is the best path to take, as opposed to venting here…Or, I could change to apple final cut production studio software??…It’s just so difficult to start all over with new system and software.

    Very disappointed and concerned,

Only thing I can think of is this (If you have photoshop):

go to Adobe Studio Exchange and download an action that creates a photo album look. Here is one I have used in the past:

    https://share.studio.adobe.com/axAssetDetailSubmit.asp?aID=10910&back=http%3A%2F%2Fshare%2Estudio%2Eadobe%2Ecom%2FaxQuickSearchSubmit%2Easp%3Ftxt%3Dalbum%26allprods%3D2%26submit1%2Ex%3D26%26submit1%2Ey%3D10

If this doesn’t get you there, go to adobe.com, click on downloads, then adobe studio exchange, then search for album within the photoshop realm. Then, run the action with a picture or two, save the .psd file, then build an inside page as another layer.

Then, import into AE and try and use the pageturn transition (believe it is a transition, as opposed to effect; but it’s there, as I have used it) somehow within all this to simulate turning pages with your photos.

There is software out there just for photo album display, but some of it is a bit cheesy (my opinion).

    good luck,

Easy way is to use the “cc type” or “cc typewriter” (I am at work and cannot remember the precise name of the effect; just type in “cc type” and see if it comes up) effect if you have V6.5 of AE. I have used this before and it works nicely. I may have the name wrong, but it’s there.

got it working…would be nice if you could keyframe object opacity somehow within Zaxwerks, similar to camera keyframing.

    Matt:

Sorry for late response. After much wrangling, I did a cold reboot and it then worked properly. I think I just had too much stuff going on (photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2, Ulead 3d studio and AE). works very well now.

    >>In its simplest form, you could add a solid to the timeline. Make it totally
    >> black at 0 and totally white at 7. Assign this solid layer to one of the
    >>layermap numbers in Invigorator. Then use the material editor to apply that
    >> material (with the map active in the transparency channel) to the 3D text.

I think this is what I am looking for. I was reading the book I got with invig and I did find the transparency map section. I have a still shot of our church on the timeline, with a cc snow effect (which looks beautiful, by the way)applied, with snow already painted on the roof and ground of the scene with the paint tool of AE. I wanted a simple “Merry Christmas” (frosty font) to appear 7 secs into the scene. I think I will try this route you mention.

But what exactly do you mean by “(with the map active in the transparency channel)”? Do you mean just clicking on the transparency map checkbox, and making sure I select the layer to map to?

    Thanks much!

August 15, 2005 at 7:55 pm in reply to: Retrieving frame from video stream — error 53::54

I had similar problem recently, but don’t think it was the same. I will tell you how I solved mine, and you can see. I had a complex project, with 4 comps. I was trying to render in DV/AVI, which requires 720X480, I believe (or is it 486?). anyway, my “feeder” comps, and my main comp, were set as 640X480 comps. When I changed all comps to a true DV setting, then rendered as DV AVI, the error went away.

I am at work, but I believe you bring up the “effects preset” window (it is usually displayed by default; you can select it, I believe, via the Window menu), then just type in ‘cc’ in the dialog and it will list all the ‘cc’ effects.

Interesting question. In one PP thread on adobe site, one person says PP works on 64-bit XP. Personally, I could only guess and say it works, but in “32-bit mode”. Have you tried contacting Adobe support?

Try dropload.com if yousendit.com doesn’t work for you. I have never had a problem with dropload.
