Thanks Ridley. Hiding the layer also hides the controls even if the null is selected though so I’d have to toggle that every time I wanted to play with it in the composition window but… that’s probably as close as I can get to what I want.
I suppose I just need to get used to toggling the Show Layer Controls for everything or just ignoring the null/light/camera outlines in my scene.

Thanks for the quick reply Vishesh! Sorry, I should have mentioned that I don’t want to turn off Show Layer Controls for all objects. I’m looking for a way to have cameras, nulls, and lights to work like images do – no outlines/controls unless selected. Is this possible?
I guess I just don’t understand the reason behind the way it’s setup now. Maybe I’m working wrong but it doesn’t makes sense to me to clutter the screen with outlines of objects that I’m not currently manipulating and that won’t be in the final render. Is this something that most people like?

[wuzelwazel] “-Apply time remap to your layer but don’t alter the keyframes (this will allow you to extend your layer’s duration in time)
-Apply timewarp”
This worked for me. Thanks!

October 15, 2012 at 6:19 pm in reply to: Relink footage reversed telecined from 30 to 24fpsWe shot 1080i/24p not 24PA. It’s a little confusing but 1080i/24P ingests into Final Cut at 1080i 29.97 and 1080i/24PA ingests into Final cut at 1080P 23.98. From what I can tell though, it looks like running a reverse telecine on footage shot at 1080i/24P will give you the same result as if you shot 1080i/24PA – it will result in progressive, non-interlaced footage running at 23.98fps.
I think you’re right about de-interlacing degrading the footage whereas reverse telecine won’t.

October 12, 2012 at 9:56 pm in reply to: Relink footage reversed telecined from 30 to 24fpsI’m delivering for web so I can’t have interlaced footage, I have a few shots that require integrated graphics which I’d prefer to work with in 24p rather than 30i, and 24p is the standard framerate for every project I cut so I would like to have this project adhere to the same specs as everything else for organizational purposes and also if I would like to integrate it into a reel of my other work.

Do you happen to know where I can find a list of which codecs offer the Automatic setting? I tend to encode ProRes and H.264’s more than anything.
Does this bother anyone else or are most people used to having to create 4 presets when 1 should do the trick?
ProRes 720 – 24FPS
ProRes 720 – 30FPS
ProRes 1080 – 24FPS
ProRes 1080 – 30FPSVS
ProRes (source frame size) – (source frame rate)
Thanks for the reply Todd! Just one more question, I can’t seem to find Adobe Media Encoder in the dropdown for feature request, any idea where I put one in for AME?

Thanks Chris! I hadn’t heard of Cage before but it definitely looks like a powerful platform for collaboration and reviews. Kind of reminds me of takeoffvideo.com but for more than just video.
I need closer to the 50GB a year offered by Vimeo though and it looks like with Cage that would be rather expensive (same with TakeoffVideo).

Any word on when this will be available?

Brilliant! I put in a feature request for this just the other week
