Yeah, I was trying to avoid having to round trip because my projects are never done, I’m always having to go back in and create a new version for something, so without ever having picture lock I feel like jumping between the programs will create a lot of problems. Thanks Michael

1) Will Premiere Pro 6 have the ability to apply motion blurs to moving objects?
2) Will Premiere Pro 6 be able to keep folder/file hierarchy when importing a folder that has subfolders?
EG. I have a folder for my sound effects called SFX and inside that folder are sub-folders like, Vehicles, People, Animals, etc… and inside those folders are more sub-folders. In Premiere Pro 5.5 if I drag and drop the SFX folder into the Project window the folder hirearchy disappears – the only folder imported is the SFX folder and all sound effects are found in there.
Apparently in PP5.5 the only way around this is to import SFX folder into AE first, and then copy and paste it into Premiere (see this thread).
Thanks!

One thing that intrigued me about FCPX was it’s use of Tags or Keywords for entire clips or as a range based section of a clip for super fast organization and grouping. Is there anything like this in Premiere Pro 6?

I’m waiting too. The prospect of having to use Windows is just terrifying.

March 23, 2012 at 6:27 pm in reply to: Why are you still here? (part 3 in a continuing series)Is anyone out there who hopes that just one NLE emerges as the clear winner? I think I do because I’m in a unique position in that my job can be accomplished with any of the NLE’s out there. I’m 100% web, no broadcast, so my decision of which NLE to switch to is largely determined by what the freelancers I work with are going to be using and also what NLE is in most demand – just in case I get laid off tomorrow I want to be fluent in the NLE which will provide me with the most job opportunities. Before X it was a pretty easy decision.
I know a lot of people will say, “Well you should just learn them all.” but to me that makes no since because any of them will work for me. When I first switch from Avid to FCP I hated it, but after a while it grew on me and now I can make FCP do backflips and walk on it’s hands if I want. If I were to have split my time between Avid, FCP and Premiere I would probably be able to work with all 3 just okay, not great, and definitely no where near the level of proficiency that I have with FCP7 because I’ve focused my time and energy on learning everything I can about it. I feel like with enough use I can make any of the NLEs work for me the way FCP7 does, it’s just takes time to learn how it functions. Splitting my time between three different NLE’s is counterintuitive to being able to produce the best possible results in the least amount of time.
So basically… everyone needs to hurry up and make a decision so I don’t have to. 🙂

(part 3 in a continuing series)I’m here to decide which NLE other than FCPX I will be using and for that there’s no better form than this one. Also, this is just a great place to discuss any industry news from rumors about new MacPro’s to how people plan on using Thunderbolt drives.
Also, I agree the name of the form should change – it’s not just about FCPX anymore.

[andy lewis] I want a timeline as good as FCP7’s and trimming as good as MC6.
I completely agree. I tried Premiere recently and while there is a lot of stuff to like one of my biggest complaints is how the Timeline works. I, like most editors I know, work by tossing all the footage from a shoot onto the Timeline and cutting it down instead of the traditional 3 point editing method – so for me, editing in the Timeline has to be like butter.
In PP5.5 I found myself having to toggle the track selectors on and off waaaay too often. Instead of using track selectors to determine which clips are affected by a certain action I’d much rather just select the clip[s] I’d like to affect for things like adding an edit, matching a frame, adding markers (which I can’t seem to do in the timeline at all), or jumping from edit to edit. Although, I’m sure a lot of my issues are just from me expecting it to work like FCP7.
I’m really looking forward to what CS6 has to offer.

Thanks Jeff! You’re right, it’s not pretty but it works.
