    Thanks for the feedback.

    I’ve already checked the disks for errors and all is fine with both the G raid and my desk top computer.

    The drive is 70% full – but as I said before, it works fine on my laptop, but not on my desktop, so I’m thinking it must be a computer issue???

    I’ve now also swapped the power supply unit, still no joy.

    Any other thoughts???

    thanks for the update David. I think the link you sent me, as good as it is, is for a later version of FCP, I have version 5 and can’t find anything regarding a Pro res setting…

    Drives: Capturing to 250gig Internal Hard Drive
    Camera: Sony Z1
    Connections: Firewire cable (400) from Z1 to Mac Book Pro
    FCP Settings: Sequence Settings – 1080i50, Capture Preset – HDV, Device Control – HDV Firewire
    Quicktime: Version 7.6.4

    Thank you for enlightning me Tom. I must say, what a terrible feature, what is that point in that?

    Next problem…When I try to capture native HD, my FCP crashes completely with an error sayng FCP quit unexpectedly. Any ideas on how I might be able to fix this problem? I am using FCP version 5.
