By any chance are your default sequence settings 720p? I’m working on a video with 8 sequences and for some reason one of them defaulted to 720p even though the clip is 1080p, another one to 23.976 when the clip is actually 29.97. It happens.

I can’t help you, but I can contribute the fact that I also have a 2 monitor layout, one a 32″ HDTV (with HDMI connection) and a 22″ PC monitor (DVI). I have Premiere Pro laid out over the 2 monitors and have had no problems whatsoever so you should be able to as well. My “workstation” is just a regular consumer PC.
The only difference between what I did and what you do is, I don’t arrange the windows every time I open Premiere Pro. I saved the layout. From what you’ve said I don’t think that’s gonna solve your problem, but if you do get things worked out, next time you lay out your windows save the configuration. For convenience sake if nothing else.

I shot video of a local comic book convention last week. I did it for my own enjoyment so I didn’t have any pressure to produce a professional product, but I had the same situation as you. Some hallways were lit by sunlight from a wall of windows, some by fluorescent lights, some by incandescent lights and the main lobby by a skylight.
I just shot each section separately, adjusting white balance for each area. I don’t know if that helps you, but maybe it will spark another idea.

No problem. If you wait for these other bums to reply… Nah, just kidding. These guys are great. I’m really a sub-amateur. The only reason my mug is up there in the 2nd spot on the Wall of Fame is because I ask so many questions.
I’ll answer what I do know. The 7200 from what I’ve read, does output 24fps from it’s HDMI out. The D5200, and all other “non-Pro” Nikons, like my D5500, does not, you can only output 29.97 or 60p (or 59.97 at 1080i). So you’re batting .500 as far as that. I’m still debating whether to sell my Ninja 2 since 24fps is important to me (and remember, I’m just an amateur shlub).
As far as your other question I’ve always heard people mention that they shoot at 60fps and then conform to 24p. I’ve never heard of anyone conforming to 29.97 but if it looks smooth to you, keep doing it. If you have any examples you could link to…btw, I THOUGHT that when I conformed the 29.97 video from the Ninja 2 to 24 it looked smooth but when I compared side by side with 29.97 rendered video I could see the juttery movement.

Believe me when I tell you, Tero, I’ve done it all, I know all the quirks. First off contrary to what I’ve read in different places, including Nikon’s website, ALL Nikon dslr’s do NOT output 24p. My D5500 only outputs 29.976. Then again, Atomos says it doesn’t matter what the Ninja 2 says is the video mode, it will record the video mode your camera is putting out. Not true. I’m putting out 1080p 24 fps but it records 1080p 29.97 fps.
One supposed workaround is to set HDMI output to AUTO instead of 1080p (which is the only way you can get the Ninja to allow choosing different video modes) but, as I said, it seems to think AUTO means 1080i at all times.
I read of a tweak where if you start recording on your camera, you can cheat the Ninja into recording 1080p 23.976 fps. That only worked once. I never know what I’m gonna get out of this thing. It seems the only way to be sure is set HDMI output to 1080p and set video output to 1080p 24 fps (or 29.97 fps. Doesn’t matter. The Ninja is going to record 29.97 fps).

I’m not saying everybody does. I just said that I was surprised at the number of videos featuring the Ninja 2 and high end cameras.
