Does it look different in VLC than it does in Premiere Pro’s program window as well? If you open the encoded file in Premiere Pro and it matches the original post video, then go to preferences (or tools, I forget which) and go to the video section. There’s a dropdown list there. Choose “Use Open GL” (NOT “Use Open GL experimental”) and that will fix the problem.
If your video looks the same in VLC as it does in Premiere Pro, then it’s a youtube thang. In which case are you encoding using a youtube preset? If not, do so.

OK, judging by the description of your project you are waaaay beyond me, but sometimes, out of the mouths of morons come pearls of wisdom. If I am not mistaken, once you import a clip into a project, every time it’s used it’s the same as an “instance” in Flash, in that you can use the clip a thousand times and it doesn’t add more than a few bytes to the size of a project.
Am I right, fellas? Is that the information you were looking for?

If you route all of the tracks to a submix the sound will be a bit muddier. At the very least you’ll lose the ability to tweak the individual tracks. I think. I’m guessing here. I have no idea.

Oh, and my system drive would be the C drive, wouldn’t it? The one with my OS and software. As I said I don’t have my media cache, project files or media on that drive, they’re on my F drive.

You shouldn’t have your project and media on your system drive. Other than that, there is no right or wrong. More of what works for you. Typically, you would have a fast RAID array (RAID-6) for project/media. Makes for an easy backup solution
Thanks, Todd. So should I just save my project files to the H drive, which I only use to encode to? And keep my media on F? As far as a RAID goes I’ve read it doesn’t really speed things up, and my stuff is eminently loseable, just stuff I shoot and play with. I really don’t need to back those files up. I usually keep them on my SD card until I’m done with the project. So bottom line just move my project files to H and I’m good to go?

Actually there IS a piece of software that allows PC’s to use ProRes. It’s called Miraizon DNxHD and ProRes Codecs.

Here we go again!!! Friggin’ AME failing. This isn’t even the same PC. It’s got an i7 core 7700, and a GeForce 1050ti GPU. WTF!!!!

Sorry, read your link. Yeah, as I said I never really pay attention to those. But I’m pretty sure the sound problem came from working off the SD card instead of downloading my files onto my media hard drive.

Thanks, Todd. Yeah, I figured as much. It was more of a brain fart than a “new way” of doing things. By the time I realised what I’d done I couldn’t bother to do it right but then, of course, one clip out of 12 refused to encode. It looked fine but came up as media offline after I encoded the video. Lesson learned.
Not sure what you mean by render bar. You mean the one that goes red, yellow and green? If so I haven’t really paid attention to it since I rarely render within the project.

If nobody responds it isn’t because they don’t want to help but because no one else is having the same problem. I’ve posted many “bugs” here that no one else had, and with my new PC I’ve discovered all of them disappeared. I think Adobe software doesn’t play nice with every configuration out there, leading to all of these one off problems.
Hopefully I’m wrong and someone will come along with a solution (I read your other post as well) to your problems. As for me, I have one odd behavior in that if I put a transparent image on a timeline above a background and shrink it down, when I scrub the timeline the image appears at full size. It doesn’t encode like that but it makes it hard to see if it’s placed properly in frame. Just another example of adobe weirdness.
