Hey Chris, in order to make the clips useable for you let me know what you’d like. V Log or HLG. Properly exposed or dark. Indoor or out. I will keep the clips at around 3-5 seconds since they’re huge at 400mb’s.

Got it. I didn’t really need to add noise reduction, I was just experimenting with it. Do you know if Neat Video is a lighter approach? It plays a LOT smoother than in Premiere Pro. I mean, it actually plays in a smooth slow motion, whereas PPro freezes up when I apply it.

Thanks, Ole, but I found the problem. Unlike Premiere Pro, if you don’t have excess footage you’ve trimmed from the beginning and/or end of clips, Resolve won’t let you create a transition. In PPro, you still can but it will use the last frame and beginning frame, causing a bit of a freeze frame effect. When I trimmed a clip, then Resolve let me drop transitions between the clips.

btw, just got firmware update 2.0 for the GH5. I’ll be uploading short clips here later today for people to play with, as Chris Wright requested.

Ah, ok. Yeah I’ve got 4GB of VRAM. I was able to render a 2:20 clip on a C4K timeline yesterday with quite a few tweaks but no noise reduction. Thanks, Tero.

Hey Chris, just an update. Still waiting for firmware 2.0. Saturday is the latest we should get it but I’ve read that Panasonic “Luminaries” are planning events for this weekend around the upgrade so it could be Thursday or Friday.
Also, just to wrap things up, my transition problem turned to be that Resolve, unlike Premiere Pro, won’t let you drop a transition between clips if there isn’t any extra footage at the end or beginning of a clip, whereas PPro will let you do a transition but it warns that it will repeat frames.

You see my specs. It’s not an ILM workstation but it’s pretty beefy. Why won’t Resolve let me set a C4K timeline? I’ve cleared my RAM cache, and only have one project open, but I get that error message when I try to render with the timeline set to C4K (4096×2160)

I already said what the source footage is. Read my comment (Ah! The worm turns!)
I have export settings as 4096×2160, the same as my source footage. I have to keep the timeline resolution at 1920×1080 because for some reason 4096 fills my GPU RAM.
And it’s the Studio version.

That’s what I thought. DNxHD or HR. I was just wondering why Resolve defaulted to Quicktime in the Delivery section. It’s not like the list was in alphabetical order.
