thanks for the responses. I’m going to have to settle with just getting it to look as good as possible. Unfortunately we can’t frame the image or such as suggested because it is not our program.

    Thanks for the help

December 18, 2006 at 11:39 pm in reply to: How can i export a text animation with a transparent bg?

just make sure that there are no layers underneather your text layer. You can check the transparency by clicking on the channels viewer button on the bottom of your composition window. It’s the button with three coloured circles overlapping. Select alpha channel. Then you can see which parts of your composition are transparent.

Then if you are happy you just need to make sure you render out with an alpha channel. Use the render queue, and in output module select a format that supports alpha channels (like quicktime animation, or TGA sequence) – then you just need to make sure that RGB+A is selected under the channels option.

Also, if you are importing into something like FCP I normally choose straight alpha channel instead of premultiplied.

Hope that helps, let us know if you have any more questions

  • i generally try not to include any audio in my renders anyways. If you put the audio on in FCP or Premiere or something that is generally a better idea.

thanks! I wish I had found that out earlier

for anyone else that may look at this post…. it works with both Sorenson AVC and Apple AVC, but not if you select aacPlus v2 for the audio codec

so the exported .SWF is all good and you are happy with it? If so,

are you using some sort of WYSIWYG html editor…. like dreamweaver?

and you already have some webspace and some sort of ftp software?

let us know, and hopefully we can help more.

    Cheers

i think you’ve pretty much got it. I’d make the duck now, open it up in AE and do your text animations. Then maybe just render out these sections and import them back into FCP. If you don’t have a distinct edit point just put the timecode into the filename. For example I name my files 034512_text.mov – so when I re-import it I know it goes at exactly 3minutes, 45seconds and 12 frames.

Then if you make edit changes before the final colour grade, just make another duck and re-import it. You can still use the text animations that you made previously.

Don’t do any audio in AE, just render out without audio and as long as you haven’t changed any of the timing it should all be sweet!

December 4, 2006 at 9:37 pm in reply to: Fade effect on entire composition

If you’ve got some sort of NLE like Premiere or FCP it is probably best to do all your fades/transitions in there after you’ve rendered the AE sequences. This way you can fine tune to dissolves without having to repeat AE renders.

Otherwise you can do dissolves in AE by simply keyframing the opacity. Make sure each of your sequences are pre-comped, then just hit “t” to bring up the opacity settings.

See how you go with that…. any more questions just ask..

December 1, 2006 at 9:06 am in reply to: AE Bugs/Crashing – One insight and One question.

we are running AE7 on 5 different macs – each is dual display and has a blackmagic output. We don’t experience any crashes….. I mean, maybe there was one or two in total since AE7.0 was released….. but overall really stable. We also store all our project files and media on an X-SAN server so nothing is local. Saving and quitting is not noticably any slower than AE6.5.

hi there – I’m not really sure what Premiere’s de-interlacing is like…. but at a guess I’d think that it would be similar to when you interpret footage in AE with fields, but then render out without fields. So it would be interpolated, but not as cleverly as Magic Bullet or something like that….. it might be worth doing a couple of tests to see which is better.
