[Ron Lindeboom] ” “Build a man a fire, and he’ll be warm for a night. But set him on fire and he’ll be warm for the rest of his life.” “
That’s hysterical! My new favorite quote! 🙂

Not sure if this will help, but I’ve found info on your combo in a couple places:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1506235
and
https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/193/863887#863895The first link seems to be the most appropriate.
Good luck!

Michael,
What was the purpose of your post? You’re not asking for help, only soliciting info on others who’ve had difficulty. It sounds like the camera was dropped.
Today you also posted your complaint on two old threads that ran their course back in July and September of 2008 (https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/193/875334 and https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/193/875332). You ended each by saying you should have stuck with Sony.
You said you’ve had the camera for 2 years, but then you say you bought it last April (1 year ago).
Also, you imply here you use the camera for a weekly TV show (I think you meant to say Fox Sports Net), yet in one of your other posts you say you use it once every 2-3 months.
Lastly, you say you’re going to wait until NAB to try to find a solution. Why not just contact Panasonic?
If you have a true issue and add some clarity, you’ll find that people in this forum will be very eager to help you.

March 17, 2009 at 6:41 am in reply to: Missing Audio file from P2 card Sub-structureIf someone is copying the individual folders from within the CONTENTS folder, I can see how they might miss one. But when the P2 card is formatted, there’s an Audio folder put into place, though it’s empty until you start to record. So I think it would be impossible to not have one in your backup if you truly copied all files over.
If you’re manually copying the files to your hard drive, create a blank folder on the hard drive and then drag the CONTENTS folder and the LASTCLIP.txt file to it. That’s all. Keep all the interior folders intact, whether they’ve got something in them or not. No need to even open the other folders to look at anything.
The best way to copy, though, is using a program like ShotPut Pro (https://www.imagineproducts.com/ShotPut.html).

March 16, 2009 at 8:52 pm in reply to: Missing Audio file from P2 card Sub-structureFor purposes of troubleshooting and clarity:
When you check the backup of the card, are you saying that the Audio folder, within the Contents folder, is missing? Or is the Audio folder there, but empty?
What program or device are you using to transfer the P2 card to your backup? Do you have a secondary backup?
Are you able to compare the contents on the P2 card to the backup to be sure you’re getting everything off the card?

March 13, 2009 at 11:39 pm in reply to: Only get audio on Log & Transfer – no pictureA late addendum with the answer:
Just in case anyone refers back to this thread, I discovered the problem with the inability to perform a Log & Transfer on a folder that contained both a Contents folder and a LASTCLIP.txt file.
My client was back in town for another shoot, so I asked him to bring his hard drive so I could check it out.
Seems that the LASTCLIP.txt file was blank. Nothing was on it. I looked at the created and modified dates and they were the same as when I copied the original P2 card onto his drive, so I don’t believe anyone erased the actual text in error. It appears to have just not copied – very weird. Fortunately my safety version copied and all was good. But I’ve never heard of that happening.
FWIW, I’ve also now used Shotput Pro. Faster than copying through the Finder. Insanely easy and efficient. Don’t know why I had that glitch I had reported earlier.
Thanks!

March 13, 2009 at 11:30 pm in reply to: Log & Transfer doesn’t read all the P2 filesThat would do it. You can rename that “parent” folder that contains both the Contents folder and LASTCLIP.txt file, but you don’t want to separate, combine or rename any of the others.
And you can’t combine the “parent” folders, though they can certainly reside next to each other.
Then you simply select any “parent” folder, as though it was a P2 Card, when performing the Log & Transfer. Or select all the “parent” folders simultaneously to transfer all the footage (most helpful when you’ve got spanned clips).

Many companies have different divisions. It wasn’t a sister division that filed for bankruptcy – it was the parent company. So, if there was a “decapitation” of the rack/server side, that was probably an effect of the bankruptcy. If that’s not effective enough, other areas will fall.
At the bankruptcy filing, FE listed assets of only $9.69 million but debt of $37.4 million.
And yes, just as you can still buy a GM vehicle, you can still buy a working Firestore. Heck, even if the company folds, I’m sure you’ll be able to buy a working Firestore… 😉

Don’t be so quick to jump in. Just 5 1/2 months ago the FE Board voted to file for bankruptcy, and then resigned. Apparently even their auditor expressed doubts about their company for the past 5 years:

February 20, 2009 at 12:28 am in reply to: Creating video game effect/look in a filmWill you be using FCP to cut it?
If so, I’m guessing you also have Motion. In the Library, under Filters, you’ve got all sorts of effects you could play with to give your picture the flattened color CG look, to emulate the game.
Your final version should run at something like 12 fps though. That’s generally what the older animation was. Graphics are so much better and at 30fps or faster, on current games like Left 4 Dead.
