Rather than buy a lens, just use a larger green screen. 8 x 8 is too small for two people (full body shot) when used properly. You normally want the people a good 6-10’ in front of the screen to prevent the green reflecting on them when it’s lit. Though you can get by with less at times depending on what is being worn. Also depends on how easy you want to make your job in post: I’ve seen wrinkled, unlit fabric used (ugh) and they can get some sort of key. How important is quality?
Thank you, Shane. We may go with your final option, using media manager and then Resolve. This isn’t a huge project and will be perfect for a first stab at the 4k edit. And the editor may then be in a better place to determine what to upgrade and in what order.
That explains a lot, Brett. The wrapping is fine (well, I’ll still budget in an extra drive for the wrapped footage, as before), but at least I won’t have all the down time.
Thanks. As mentioned in the beginning, I don’t yet have FCP X. Trying to plan the best way to deal with a TB of footage from an upcoming project. This is giving me more encouragement, though.
So, you still used Log & Transfer? Except when you went to import the whole card (however many GB) it was pretty much instant? That would be great if I’m understanding you correctly.
