You will probably have more chance of a response if you ask your question on the “Panasonic P2 Camcorders” forum.

G-Raid drvives seems to be the most reliable drives if you wanna go FW.

I don’t see why the G-Raid wouldn’t be compatible with the Kona 2. Anyway if you want a faster drive you have to go with SATA drives or FiberChannel drives. FW drives are good, but they have their limits, especially if you have more than one 10bit stream at the same time.

If you will save money and time in the next months go for it. I bought a new PowerBook G4 in November, it works really well, it does everything I need it to do for now. As far as I know there is no other hardware coming around the corner that as the potential of replacing PCIe slots and every video cards company is coming out with new PCIe products.

You can only have the best computer for one day and thats if shipping is not delayed. Think about it.

I don’t think Walter is having problems doing HD on a dual 2.0, so the only question is do you need it or not.

I agree with Matte, the price seems high to me. Unless you get extras with the computer.

Just to be clear you cannot shoot HD with the Z1, its HDV. They are two completly different formats.

Am I the only one who thinks that all the apps in studio will be available by themselves when the new upgrades will be out, probably at NAB. I look at the rumors sites from time to time and sometimes they are right on the money and other times they are way out and AppleInsider is a rumor site. Lets just wait and see.

I totally agree with you David. Panasonic should look at the P2 cards as a replacement for tapes, not a new media transport technology. I think David’s suggested price list would be a realistic one. The P2 cards definitly has the potential of killing the HDV format, but not at those prices.

Mike, I already thought about the option of buying Motion 2 and upgrading to Final Cut Studio in the next months, but Apple has already fixed that loophole. Look on their site, you can only buy FC Studio, you cannot buy the apps seperatly. Another sign FCP 6 is coming with upgrades to all the Pro apps.
