    Heya,

I’m not sure (I don’t own them), but I think the the Wondertouch emitter presets (and related media) were installed in the Motion Library path, which was in /Users/Shared/Motion/ in Motion 2.0.

As of the new version, all of Final Cut Studio seems to share a common content library path, which seems to be /Library/Applications Support/Final Cut Studio/.

I’d contact Wondertouch and ask them the proper way to relocate/reinstall the emitter presets is so that they’ll show up in the new library location. They’re just presets and images, so they should be compatible with Motion 3.

Are you running the Universal Binary (Intel & PPC-friendly) version?

    Heya,

I’m using dvMatte Blast in Motion 3, right now. What problem did you experience when trying it in version 3?

May 23, 2007 at 3:27 pm in reply to: particles or replicator for duct simulation?

    Hey Liane,

I think a repliactor would be the easy way to go. You can set up a “puff” of particles (small dots, not Motion particles) and replicate those. You can then draw a path along the duct to act as the path for the replicator. Then it’s just a matter of animating the replicator offset. Here’s a quick example: https://homepage.mac.com/specialcase/movies/duct.mov

May 23, 2007 at 3:00 pm in reply to: Optical Flow in Motion3?

    Heya,

I don’t know what you’re encountering in #1, but the long processing time you experienced isn’t unusual. Optical flow analysis means following the motion paths of every pixel in the image. A 30-second clip would definitely take some time, whcih is why Motion processes it in the background for you.

    Heya,

No dice on that one. Motion renders on the GPU driving the display that the Canvas is on. Multi-GPU support sure would be nice, though.

    Heya,

It sounds like you need to use an Image Mask. There’s an older post here: https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/170/858277?

    Good luck!

    Heya,

You’ll want to use the gradient as the source for an Image Mask, probably based on the gradient’s luminance. There’s an older post describing the process here: https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/170/856786?

    Good luck with you project!

    Heya,

While TextMate is my Precious, I often edit Motion project files in TextEdit or TextWrangler, and nothing untoward happens.

Can you be more specific as to what you did? What text was in the original file, and how did you do the replacement, and what did you replace it with?

    Heya,

To get the specific look shown in that video, you need to do a few steps. They didn’t apply the thermal look to the whole scene, which would have been too disorienting. They color-graded the shot to look like a nightvision camera
