I’ve got both a GL2 and a Sony VX2100. My opinion is the Sony does much better with sports than the Canon. Sony is better in low light situations and seems to focus quicker and holds the focus better. The Canon seems to “search” sometimes for proper focus when shooting sports.

Using DVDA. I always use it to burn and have never had any problems using DVD-Rs. I have 4 DVD players in my home ranging from a cheap $39 unit up to a nice Sony high end unit. My DVD-Rs almost always play in all 4 machines. The DVD+Rs that I burnt would not play in any of the 4 machines. I used Memorex DVD+R disks, manufactured by CMC Magnetics Corp. Maybe I need a firmware update? If so, how do I do that? Thanks.

I’ve read a lot about renting. Can anyone give some advice about who to rent from. I am in Dayton, Ohio and know of nobody close to here to rent from? Who do I call and what is the proceedure?

I have used Taiyo Yuden ink jet printable DVD-Rs for a few years, now. Very good and consistant discs. I get them on-line from Supermediastore.com. One of my burners does best at 2X speed, while the other does best at 4X.

    Gary,

What if I reverse the idea? In other words, the subject will be in color and everything else in B&W. I’ve read some of Edward’s newsletters and have experimented with the secondary color corrector which seems to do this, but will it still be complicated because of all the colors in all the decorations and lights? What I’m trying to do is get accross the message that the subject is surounded by all the trappings of Christmas, but still feeling isolated and empty. Not until he sees the nativity scene and remembers the true meaning of Christmas, does he feel the joy of the season. I will be using no spoken or written word, only the music and the actor to get the point across. The effect I need is to isolate the subject from everything else, until the nativity scene, where he will blend into the world around him. Any other ideas of how I can “highlight” the subject? I really appreciate your help, ideas and advice.

It’s got me baffled. I’m not having any problems with it, it just seems strange.

Check out this site for info on downloading software to identify the DVD manufacturer https://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/

I, too only use Taiyo Yuden discs which I order from supermediastore.com, they work great!

Burning at 2X is a good idea, but I seem to have discovered that one of my burners does best at 2X and the other at 4X.

Lastly, check out the Epson printers for printing directly to the disc. I have the Epson Photo R200 printer which works great. The newest model of this printer sells for less than $100.00.

I would recommend for a beginner! Gary explains how Vegas works very well. As I’ve said before, I learn something new every time I watch a disc.
