I have run into a new problem with DVDA2. I always burn my projects to DVD-Rs. I’ve had 2 people that could not play a video, their DVD players would not recognise the disks. I re-burned the projects onto DVD+Rs (a first for me) and none of my players, nor my computer would recognise the disks. Any thoughts?

How are you burning? Letting DVDA burn to disc, or using other burning software?

Some players simply will not recognize burned discs. I’d check what models of players they have and look them up on a compatibility list.

Using DVDA. I always use it to burn and have never had any problems using DVD-Rs. I have 4 DVD players in my home ranging from a cheap $39 unit up to a nice Sony high end unit. My DVD-Rs almost always play in all 4 machines. The DVD+Rs that I burnt would not play in any of the 4 machines. I used Memorex DVD+R disks, manufactured by CMC Magnetics Corp. Maybe I need a firmware update? If so, how do I do that? Thanks.

I’m wondering if the folks who could not play your discs was due to the “Invalid Streams” issue that Sony tried to fix with DVDA4b.

Run your DVD Folders through PGCedit, and when the popup asks you to fix the number of streams, select yes. Then burn that resulting VIDEO_TS folder to disc and see if that allows those folks to read your DVD.

For firmware updates, check with the manufacturer or supplier of your burner unit. Also google search on the burner for firmware updates (make sure to follow all directions when updating firmware).

    Regards,
    George
