.wmv format is an audio format. So, it’ll convert it to audio file when you render it as .wmv!

Actually, Windows Media Video (WMV) is a Video format.

Windows Media Audio (WMA) is an audio-only format.

Are you trying to customize the template? The trial *should* render to wmv just fine, but won’t render to MP4 as a trial format, because it’s an MPEG format that requires licensing (obtained when you purchase Vegas).

If it’s destined for an SD DVD, you have only one choice:
Render to MPEG for the DVD. DVD players cannot generally play avi files, and even so, if your project is longer than 20 mins, it wouldn’t fit on a standard DVD5 anyway.
Rendering to MPEG is *best* done in Vegas, but you could export the finished AVI into DVDA, and render from there, although that is never the optimal workflow.

You need an MJPEG codec for Vegas. If you were to use Vegas Pro 8, it comes with one. Otherwise, Google for free MJPEG codecs. There are several.

Since you say “PSD” are any of the source files .tif?
PSD takes a while to decode anyway. Can you not flatten them, or at the least, convert the layers to PNG? Separate png, tga, or jpg layers will convert more quickly.
Similar question for the 5th layer. Stills that are larger than 2k in either dimension, can really bring Vegas to its knees. Vegas Pro 8 simply blows when it comes to large still files. You may look at reducing the size there.
Then there is the option of simply rendering each of the 30 to an uncompressed file with alpha; this will probably be faster for the first, uncompressed render, but will be slower in the second, delivery render.

Does anyone here know people at Sony who can push for:
1) Native capture full HD.
Huh? Already there. Been there since version 5.

2) Script-Sync, with native support for Final Dr
aft & MS Word files.(example: in avid media composer).
Would be a nice feature add, but not likely, as it’s not a feature that would enjoy enough market penetration as other tools. Avid is *definitely* not the model to be following right now, no matter how strong their market has been.

3) Native drag’n’drop for Panasonic P2 cards.

Never gonna happen. Read the dialog in this very forum between both Sony and Panasonic product managers. Although now with the new AVCI format, I admit, it would be a nice add. However, Raylight is a terrific tool for working with the P2 packaging.

Yup. Turn on the selection tool, and keyframe it to be stuttered as it reveals each character or word.

~Open your project
~File/Save As
~Tick the box that saves media with Project
~point the save to an external HDD
~Select OK.

This will save the project with the media to the external drive which may then be put on the other computer.

Vegas *does* support WMV, not sure why your templates are deleted? When you look at the render options, you don’t see *any* wmv options?

BTW, MP4 is often better for Utube, depends on the content. We experimented heavily with various bitrates when working on the “Video For The Web” training DVD, and found that it’s a myth that Utube likes WMV best. it depends on the content, and bitrate. MP4 from Vegas Pro 8 does a slightly better job with motion, and wmv does a slightly better job with color, based on our findings.

Right click the key frame and choose from the various curves offered for each keyframe style.
