Next Vegas 9…
Posted by Earle Del rosario on February 23, 2008 at 8:42 pmDoes anyone here know people at Sony who can push for:
1) Native capture full HD.
2) Script-Sync, with native support for Final Draft & MS Word files.(example: in avid media composer).
3) Native drag’n’drop for Panasonic P2 cards.

Huh? Already there. Been there since version 5.2) Script-Sync, with native support for Final Dr
aft & MS Word files.(example: in avid media composer).
Would be a nice feature add, but not likely, as it’s not a feature that would enjoy enough market penetration as other tools. Avid is *definitely* not the model to be following right now, no matter how strong their market has been.3) Native drag’n’drop for Panasonic P2 cards.

Never gonna happen. Read the dialog in this very forum between both Sony and Panasonic product managers. Although now with the new AVCI format, I admit, it would be a nice add. However, Raylight is a terrific tool for working with the P2 packaging.Douglas Spotted Eagle

February 28, 2008 at 9:30 pmI am a newbie in Vegas used DPS Velocity, Premiere, Final Cut, Media 100 and razorX in my time though. Two HUGE things missing in Vegas….track motion is pretty clunky….think DVE folks…zoom, crop, rotate 3d with borders, bevels and drop shadows if I had noticed how bad this is in the trial version, I might have stayed with premiere this time around…Is there a plugin that does this better in Vegas, cause I am hating it….Second thing when I make a project, I’d like to create a folder to put my stuff in, capture to there and maybe ultimately save out to there so I can archive that all up later…I see I have to burrow into preferences to set these now….silly. And finaly in capture, I think the “use dv control” check box should be moved from prefs to the main interface for live capture vs machine control.

February 29, 2008 at 12:27 amYou’re not saying anything that hasn’t been asked for numerous times in the past.
Here’s the link to the Sony Product Suggestion page.
Feel free to add yours to the list.
If enough of us keep asking for things like this, maybe they’ll eventually get added. -

January 24, 2009 at 9:20 pmI wanted to bump this up.
I am disappointed in Vegas that plugin guys like cant make plugins
that access the video like the Pan/Crop window can. If we could more powerful things can be made because we can get mouse feedback on the image. That is crucial to things like Motion tracking and anything with a polygon mask. So please put in a request for me so I can make plugins for Vegas. I tried before and found this obstacle to destroy my desire to create new things for Vegas. -

John, sorry for the delayed response.
I’m a former dpsVelocity user as well (stopped at version 8) and the real-time FX are one of the few things I do miss.
However, that product did come with a much larger price tag than Vegas.
I know that several folks are using either BorisFX and/or After Effects to do the kinds of things you want to do so that’s all I can suggest.
If you owned a previous version of Vegas Pro (either 6 or 7), it came with a light version of Boris FX as well as Boris Graffiti and you’d be eligible for upgrade price savings ($100 – $200, depending on what you buy).[John Donlevie] “Second thing when I make a project, I’d like to create a folder to put my stuff in, capture to there and maybe ultimately save out to there so I can archive that all up later…I see I have to burrow into preferences to set these now.”
dpsVelocity this ain’t 🙁
I’ve gotten used to the quirks in Vegas and don’t find it that annoying anymore.
Good folder management is essential here. -

January 24, 2009 at 10:09 pmI actually talked to someone voice quite about a year ago when V8 came out. Wisconsin (which it was developed a while ago) isnt far from me.
I investigated the SDK and hit the wall immediately.
I did put the request in but I dont have much confidence in it being filled. I have found that only when the editors get hot headed and the larger users make demands do things actually change. Maybe Sony is different. I cant honestly say I know because I stopped thinking about making plugins for Sony once I got to the point where I could go no further. Without Mouse feedback from on a video window there isnt much ya can do.
Thanks for the reply.
