If you want accurate images, you can’t.
Your options for external preview are limited to Firewire or SDI.
If you use a Firewire converter, most of them have SVid outputs, or you can use a camera with SVid output, and this will give you accurate color.Douglas Spotted Eagle

I’m 100% certain the problem isn’t so much Vegas as whatever you’ve got going in the background.
Antivirus?
Sound card on the same bus as anything else?
Video card on the same bus?
IRQ conflicts
1394 card on the same bus?What other, if any, software are you running in addition to Vegas as a video app? Is anything Pinnacle on the sysetm by chance?

WMV can’t carry the transparency. 32bit file (uncompressed) required. You could export a PNG sequence for them, or a TGA sequence for them.

easy of dropping actions on the tool bar.
Regardless of preference, Ultimate S allows either the entire interface or individual actions to be dropped on the toolbar. We did recently do away with that feature based on customer feedback, but not until version 3. Obviously, camera cuts/dissolves are on the toolbar, but in US3, we made it possible to run many, many actions from various tabs at the same time, with one button push.

There are a few apps that can batch capture HDV via 422 protocol. Frame accurate batch capture via firewire is not possible.

Click the crop icon found on every video clip. If you don’t see it, then visit VIEW/Event Event buttons. Or, right click the event/clip and choose pan/crop from there.
You can do this easily with Track motion, moving one to one side, and one to the other side, or even partially overlaying them diagonally, shrinking them down in Track Motion so that you can fit them both on the screen at full frame value.

You need to update the clipbrowser from the one that came with the camera.
