Matte on track one. Track in Mask mode.
Composite on track two, child of track one.

Alternatively, you can also use mask generator on the matte, which will reveal the accompanying key.

Pan/Crop won’t move it to the bottom, unless you make it quite large, change aspect, etc. Track Motion or a Mask in Pan/Crop is the better way to achieve this, or make a title bar in the ProType Titler and use that. This way, you can use the PTT for both title and bar.

Drop the T/C (timecode) FX filter on the MAIN video bus (drag it to the preview window). Then use the controls to set the location of the window burn

Audio is not affected by the velocity envelope.
To speed without pitch change, right click for the properties and be sure that pitch is not changed when you do a CTRL/drag of audio events.

Your system likely can’t play a YUV file if you don’t have a large/fast RAID and controller card. You have an HDSDI output? If not, no point in even considering YUV. Use a secondary monitor and HDV as you format for previz rendering.

Edius is able to do this as the result of a proprietary codec (a very good one) that requires conversion of the HDV stream to a non-HDV format, that will then require recompression on output to tape.
IMO, Edius is the next-best choice to Vegas when it comes to non-hardware specific preview and output. What you didn’t see was that not all FX can play back with full frame, full rez preview. Remember, you saw a demo, not a real-world use. I can show you Vegas playing back in real-time, 14 layers of various types of video ranging from 4:4:4 uncompressed HD to animated gifs all on the same timeline, it’s all about the magic of the presentation.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not dissing Edius, because I think it’s a brilliant, although not fully-featured app.

large pix will often jerk no matter what preview setting, especially if they are anything but png or tga. *Generally* these will render fine.
Test a jerky area by rendering to RAM. SHIFT +B gets er’ done.
