BTW The Vegas NAB event was excellent, it would be great to have similar meetings here in Europe.
I will be in London on October 24-28 for the NAB London. Would be happy to consider a get-together there.

September 23, 2008 at 5:24 pm in reply to: Capturing footage from Sony’s 7U FC Card into Vegas Pro 8Every NLE on the planet does read HDV natively (including Vegas), excepting one. IMO, that’s a very messed up way to do things. Makes for interoperability hassles too.
Yes…Vegas reads the data NATIVELY off the card.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Once the m2t data is on the card, it’s just a CF card that is no different from any USB drive, MSPD, or thumbdrive. It’s a data transfer. Very fast, very easy.
Card readers are fairly ubiquitous, I have a bunch that were tradeshow swag…they’re just plain cheap.Douglas Spotted Eagle

With a $10.00 CF card reader that you can pick up in any grocery store.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Yes, you *can* but the question is “Why would you?” You can edit straight off the CF card if you want, but the best method is to Xfer the card. It’s very fast with a UDMA CF card.

Be aware that HDV Split also affects header files of HDV data, and therefore can create issues in Vegas or Adobe Premiere.
Nothing wrong at all with using another capture app, just be aware that it may not be compatible. Breaking away from the spec has its good points and bad points.Douglas Spotted Eagle

There is no need to manually flag anything.Douglas Spotted Eagle

September 21, 2008 at 2:19 pm in reply to: Change attributes of several files in Project media windowyou have two options here;
A-project interlaces progressive footage
B-project de-interlaces footage from Z1.
Take your pick, you can’t have both on output. That’s the first place to start.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Quit importing using the VideoCamSuite, and your problem will go away. Import directly with Vegas.
