Corel owns Intervideo as well, but Intervideo runs the software division independently. At the end of the day, it’s semantics. Ulead/Intervideo/Corel aren’t dev’ing the product the way it was once being developed.

Under Options (in my Vegas Movie Studio Version 8), I have the choices of:
    ~Never Preview Video
    ~Smart Preview Video
    ~Always Preview Video

Are you not seeing these choices?

1-Be certain “Always Preview” is enabled in your capture prefs.
2-Your video card may not support overlay in all modes.

As far as Ulead vs VMS…I haven’t used Ulead’s latest other than a demo version, but the previous version was pretty weak, IMO. Very unstable. Now that Ulead no longer owns the software, and is instead owned by Intervideo using the Ulead name, it has suffered tremendously (again IMO). They’ve killed all the “pro” apps and kept only the consumer apps, which suggests an end of real development.

If I’m correctly understanding what you wish to do, the color dissolves should work as you’re wanting it to do. You’ll need to tweak the presets, but otherwise it should work.

You’ll do better resizing/cropping with Pan/crop vs TM, if maintaining full resolution is important.
Additionally, for PAL photos, you want them to be 704 x 576 or let Vegas scale them for you rather than trying to batch them externally.

    Mary,
Just spent half an hour with this, and having issues with .Net 2.0.
Hopefully I’ll have a better answer tomorrow.

Epson has a great free design software that we use for the very fast/gotta have it in 60 seconds covers.
Otherwise, InDesign. Many templates for free on the web.

July 26, 2007 at 4:18 am in reply to: web streaming video

Bear in mind that editing plays a significant role in the quality of highly compressed webstreams. Gradients (think of sky) and soft transitions (think: dissolve, fly-ins, blurred wipes) will all damage the integrity of your stream.
At 256Kpbs, you’re fairly small, but feeding a good clean stream to an encoder should give you a terrific quality in Flash. Nothing can beat Flash for low-quality streaming, IMO. WMV would be the next best bet (again, my opinion based on experience), but if your editing isn’t kind to the encoder…you’ll have a bad stream anyway.
Editing for web and cell phone isn’t as easy as many folks would like to imagine; it takes special thought and consideration.
Moving titles are a bad idea for low bitrates, and non-contrasted colors are bad for low bitrates. Encoders love solid colors, slo/no motion, and large blocks of singular color/content.

    Mary,
I have this installed, and it’s a .Net problem; I’ve been told that it will work if properly installed and I’ve been told it won’t work even when properly installed. I’ve not taken the time to track it down, since I don’t use my MacBook Pro on our system network for rendering anyway. I guess I should spend a little time with it, maybe an answer isn’t that hard to find. Are you using Parallels too? Or just Bootcamp?

What inputs are available on your HDTV? That’s the most important component (no pun intended) to the answering of your question

Generally, that means you’ve got a corrupted file/security issue. Softwrap is a digital delivery wrapper/encryption for downloaded software with security protocols assigned to it. I’ve read in the past that some firewall tools and AV have issues with software protected with Softwrap encryption.
